The main issue to be addressed in this study is to figure out the reason behind decreasing size and number of Yongmoo-do competitions and its participants contrary to its rapid progress they
have been making in such a short period of time by interviewing branch directors working in the field. In order to approach the objective of this study, in-depth interview method was used on
clerks who were in charge of clerical works and administrations as well as researchers who were engaged in technology development in the early stage of foundation, leaders who actively participated in Yong-in University School of Social Education(Life-long Education) in the aspect of ethnography method which is a method of qualitative study. The followings are the conclusion reached after studying the minutes and seminar materials made in the early stage of establishment and various documents and previous studies. First, having a Yong-in University alumna as the president in the early stage of branch establishment, which was to promote the
organization, had both strength and weak points. Second, there were seven branches which the branch director did not take an active part after being elected as a director. Third, there were little
regard for leaders who were not alumni of the same university and did not actively support their works. Fourth, the organization should be constructively reformed in an amicable close relationship between the association and branches not in a chain of command.

본 연구에서 연구자가 관심을 갖고 접근하는 부분은 짧은 기간에 비약적인 발전을 거듭하고 있는 용무도가 현재 대회의 규모와 횟수 그리고 대회에 참가하는 선수단이 점차 축소되는 원인을 분석하고자 현장에서 지도자로 활동하고 있는 각 지부와 지회장 등의 구술을 통해서 그 원인을 찾아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적에 접근하기 위해서 질적연구의 방법인 문화기술지적 측면에서 창립초기 사무행정을 담당한 직원과 기술개발에 참여한 연구진, 용인대학교 제1기 사회교육원(평생교육원)에서 적극적으로 활동한 지도자들을 대상으로 심층면접을 토대로 구술사 방법을 이용하였으며 창립초기 회
의록과 세미나 자료, 그리고 각종 문서와 선행연구를 통한 문헌고찰을 실시하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 초기 지부설립당시 용인대학교 출신으로 회장을 추대한 것에는 활성화를 위한 방안으로 장․단점을 내포하고 있었다. 둘째, 지부회장으로 추대는 되었지만 설립과 활동을 하지 않는 지부가 7개 시도에 이르고 있다. 셋째, 비동문 도장의 지도자들에 대한 배려가 작으며 그들의 활동을 적극적으로
보장해주는 모습이 부족하다고 생각된다. 넷째, 상명하복의 지휘체계가 아닌 중앙협회와 지부와의 원만하고 긴밀한 관계 속에서 발전적인 모습으로 거듭나야 한다.
