This research considered ecology and ecological point of view, with which background illuminated the character of elementary education.
Ecology takes a view of nature and human world as an ecological reason, such an ecology had been maintained the point of view of nature of union, equality and life. Such ecological principles are also applied correspondingly to education, these were discussed as an ecological education first, interaction education between human and environment, second, education as symbiotic relationship, third, education as life respect, forth, education as de-self-righteousness.
In this research could have been discussed about the suggestive meaning that the ecological thinking and ecological educational point of view has in elementmary education as three parts, that is, elementary education which learn in nature, elementary education of relational point of view, and evolving elementary education.
First, in ecology and ecological educational point of view an elementary education is the education that is similar to nature.
Second, in ecology and ecological educational point of view the elementary education needs the relational point of view.
Third, ecology and ecological education meaned suggestively that elementary education must be evolved.

이 연구는 생태학의 제반 이론을 살펴보고 이 관점에서 교육 및 초등교육의 성격을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해서 다음과 같은 순서로 살펴보았다. 우선, 생태학 및 생태학적 사유들을 개괄하고 그것에서 공통으로 발견되는 원리를 탐색하였다. 다음으로 생태학적 관점에서 본 교육은 학습자와 학습 환경간의 상호작용을 하며 관계성에 근거하여 공생하고 공진화하며 생태적 감수성에 근거한 생명을 존중하고 다양성을 존중하고 근사적 지식의 관점에서 탈독선으로서의 성격을 논의하였다.
이러한 논의 결과 생태학적 관점에서 본 초등교육은 객관적 존재로서의 자연을 닮고 아동의 자연적 본성을 발현하는 교육, 여러 요소들 사이의 관련성에 근거한 교육, 유기체적 시스템으로서 스스로 진화 발전하는 것으로서의 관점에서 탐색하였다. 이러한 초등교육의 생태학적 관점의 이해는 초등교육이 앞으로 다양성을 인정하는 상호존중의 방향으로 나아갈 것을 시사한다.
