- The purpose of this study was to investigate the concepts of enjoyment of Korean and American children in participating physical activities. To achieve this purpose, the 36 Korean and 34 American elementary students were selected as participants. American elementary students were third, fourth and fifth grade students go to in the New Haven area. Korean students were fourth and fifth grade students of D elementary school, estimated possible to collect the data for performing this research, in Dae Gu, Korea. The data were collected by opened-questionnaire and in-depth interviews. and The students' opened-questionnaire and interviews were analyzed via the concept of enjoyment by SoonYee, Park(2001). As a result of this study, Korean and American elementary students were experiencing various enjoyments in participating physical activities. The concepts of enjoyment were classed as 4 categories. The categories were 'self confidence', 'amusement', 'physical health and getting rid of stress', 'team spirit'.
