The purpose of this study was to examine the clothing purchase behaviors of elementary school students and to provide basic data for establishment of future direction of clothing purchase behavior education in practical arts education. According to results, elementary school students purchased clothes when they needed those, and gained information about clothes from the store. In addition, they requested to their parents to purchase clothes on a special day, and most of them purchased clothes with their parents. Therefore, in order to improve the clothing purchase behaviors of elementary school students, it is necessary to reorganize the current education contents of the clothing life education in the practical arts curriculum and carry out a systematic and steady education on their clothing purchase behaviors.

본 연구는 초등학생을 대상으로 의복구매행동을 조사하여 의복구매행동에 대한 교육의 중요성과 필요성을 인식시키고 초등학교에서의 바람직한 의생활 교육을 시행하기 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 결과에 의하면, 초등학생들은 의복이 필요할 때 구매하였으며, 의복 정보를 옷 가게에 진열된 옷을 통하여 얻는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 부모님에게 특별한 날에 의복을 구입하길 원하는 의복구매 의견을 제시하였으며 부모님과 함께 의복을 구매하는 경우가 많았다. 따라서 초등학생의 바람직한 의복구매행동을 증진시키기 위하여 실과 교과의 의생활 교육내용을 재구성하여 체계적이고 지속적인 의복구매행동에 관한 교육을 실시해야 할 것이다.
