The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of different types of follow-up activities on the parents' perception of the usefulness of story book reading and storybook lending programs. The parents of thirty nine four-year-old children in Gyeongggi Province completed questionnaires after their children participated in two different storybook lending programs. The children were divided into two groups, and they carried out different follow-up activities at home. The experimental group children were asked to answer factual, inferential, and critical questions about the storybooks while the control group children were asked to draw the most interesting or memorable scene in the storybooks. Both groups read two storybooks per week. The results showed that the parents of the children in the experimental group had more positive attitudes towards the educational value of storybook reading and storybook lending programs than the parents of the children in the control group. Implications, suggestions for application and recommendations for further research are provided.

본 연구의 목적은 도서대여프로그램 형태가 가정에서의 그림책 읽기 및 도서대여프로그램에 대한 부모의 인식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 경기도 S시에 소재한 병설유치원 두 곳의 만 4세 부모 39명이다. 실험집단과 비교집단 유아들에게 그림책 읽기 후 사후 활동형태를 달리한 도서대여프로그램을 1주일에 2회 실시하였다. 실험집단 유아에게는 1주일에 두 번 그림책을 대여하였으며 사후활동으로 개방적 질문 중심의 이야기 나누기 활동을 실시하였으며 비교집단 유아에게는 동일한 그림책을 1주일에 두 번 대여하였으며 사후활동으로 가장 재미있거나 기억나는 장면을 그리도록 하였다. 연구 결과 실험집단 유아의 부모들이 비교집단 유아들의 부모들보다 그림책 읽기의 교육적 가치를 더 잘 이해하고 도서대여 프로그램에 대해서도 더 긍정적으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 양질의 도서대여프로그램 개발에 주요한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
