The purpose of this study is to examine programs for dance education that are run in small theaters in foreign countries so that we can develop potential audiences and suitable programs in Korea. For the purposes of this study, I analyzed programs for dance education in domestic and overseas small theaters by looking through relevant literature. I also developed a program
called 「Shall we make shadows?」by applying Laban’s movement theory, which focuses on the development of children’s creativity, in order to explore dance education programs suitable for small theaters. Processes deemed helpful to develop small theater dance education programs are as follows: (1) Establishing dance education program studying themes and education goals, (2) Organizing dance education programs using Laban’s movement theory and (3) Developing four stages of introduction, development, progression and arrangement. The duration of a class was set at 50 minutes. The content of a dance education program class was composed of four stages. The introduction stage involves warming up on the floor, the evelopment stage involves movement performance (semi-structured movement), the progression stage involves group activities and applying movement and the arrangement stage involves observation and the appreciation of seat movement.

본 연구의 목적은 잠재적 관객개발을 위하여 외국 소극장에서 운영되고 있는 무용교육 프로그램 사례를 분석하여 우리나라에 맞는 소극장 무용교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 있다. 연구방법은 문헌연구를 통해 국내외 소극장의 무용교육 프로그램 내용을 분석하였고, 소극장 무용교육 프로그램을 개발을 위해 라반의 움직임 교육모형을 적용하여 아동의 창의성 발달에 초점을 두어 무용교육 프로그램「그림자를 만들어볼까요?」를 개발하였다. 소극장 무용교육 프로그램의 개발절차는 다음과 같다. (1) 무용교육 프로그램 학습주제 및 교육목표 설정, (2) 라반의 움직임 교육모형을 활용한 무용교육 프로그램 구성, (3) 도입, 전개, 발달, 정리 4단계에 따라 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 수업시간은 50분으로 정하였다. 무용교육 프로그램 수업내용은 크게 4단계로 구성하였다. 도입단계는 Floor에서 워밍업(warming up), 전개단계는 움직임 수행(반구조화된 움직임), 발단단계는 움직임을 응용한 그룹 활동, 정리단계는 움직임을 객석에서 관찰, 감상하는 것이다.
