This article suggests a plan to pass down and utilize a fable, Sohwa (humorous tale), into cultural contents in a modern way. The purpose of this article is to construct elements of humor appearing in the fable into a storybank or website, and suggest plans to develop it into healing materials and various media contents. The sentiments of the lower-class, which is the class enjoying and creating fables, are well expressed and the optimism to overcome dire conditions of life and warm support of the community are inherent in the elements of humor. Moreover, the humor, wits, wisdom, and parody of our nation are melted in. Over time, research and investigation on fables has been constantly and diversely accumulated. These research and investigation results were the basis for understanding the lower-class of each region and were an opportunity to enlarge our understanding of the regional culture where the fable was inherited. However, fables are no longer being created and are placed in an environment difficult to pass down. Now research and efforts on passing down and utilizing the organized fable materials are necessary. The movements to utilize fables as cultural contents in their original form are increasing. However, most fables are provided as animation source materials for children, utilized as materials for region festivals, or being published as children books. Consequently, this article seeks to provide a new possibility to stimulate public sympathy through the original sentiment of our nation merged with digital contents by utilizing elements of humor into various media contents. This article has suggested a plan to utilize various media contents requiring Sohwa (humorous tale) by constructing a website and creating a story bank after organizing and analyzing Sohwa among the fables collected over time. Furthermore, this article has suggested a scheme to utilize Sohwa as a healing method for mental pathologies such as depression and bipolar disorder arising from stress. Utilizing Sohwa in media contents will enable the element humor to contribute to the development of contents by merging with the unique national spirit, instead of merely being a one-time entertainment. Thus, humor appearing in media contents will retain its true meaning when equipped with the form of humanities while understanding and self-examining human and human life, instead of merely inducing light humor from the audience or achieving high audience ratings.

본고는 설화 중 笑話를 현대적으로 전승 및 활용하는 방안을 제시하는 것이다. 본고에서는 笑話를 스토리뱅크 및 웹사이트로 구축하고, 이를 각종 미디어 콘텐츠와 치유의 소재로 활용하는 방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 설화에는 설화를 창작하고 향유하는 기층집단의 정서가 잘 드러나 있으며 특히 소화에는 삶의 문제적 국면에 대한 인식이 내재되어 있다. 또한 우리 민족이 지닌 해학과 기지, 지혜, 풍자 등이 용해되어 있다. 따라서 笑話를 스트레스로 인한 우울증이나 조울증 등의 정서적 병리현상의 치유 방안으로 활용하는 것이 가능하다. 笑話를 미디어 콘텐츠에 활용하는 것은 우리 민족의 고유 정신이 함께 어우러지는 웃음 콘텐츠를 만들어내는 데 기여할 것이다. 笑話를 현대적으로 활용하는 것은 인간과 인간의 삶을 보다 인문학적으로 이해하고 성찰하는 데도 기여할 것이다. 그동안 설화 조사 및 연구는 꾸준하고 다양하게 집적되어 왔다. 이러한 조사 및 연구 결과물은 각 지역 기층민의 삶을 이해하는데 초석이 되기도 하였고, 설화 전승 지역의 문화에 대한 이해의 지평을 넓히는 계기가 되어 왔다. 하지만 설화는 더 이상 생성되지 않을뿐더러 전승이 어려운 환경 속에 놓여 있다. 따라서 집적된 설화 자료를 문화콘텐츠 원형으로 활용하려는 노력이 확대되고 있지만 좀 더 실질적인 방안이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 설화의 웃음 화소를 각종 미디어 콘텐츠 및 치유에 활용하여 우리 민족의 정서적 원형이 현대적으로 전승되는 새로운 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.
