- The study intended to discuss about the complex phenomenon of religious facilities connecting with local community. With the urbanization process, religious facilities are undergoing many changes of structural and programs. Changes were accoured in typology of religious facilities. Particularly, The spatial change appers more clearly than the other multi- use facilities. Therefore, it is very important for us to study these changes carefully. I focused on analyzing the changes and characters between the Protestant Church architecture, which was a typical workship space of the 70s and the new Church architecture with additional space function following the community's needs after the 90s. And the range of this study is based on 'SPACE' - the domestic architectural magazine which is still being published and carries the articles of church architecture long before.
In this paper, we examined the complex character of church spaces and the factors by considering the process of space functional change in church facilities and analyzing non-typological cases. And in the basis of it, we attempted to show what direction should the multi-use facilities of church take.
