The present study is conducted to seek for the potential or the possibility of the cyber space as the place for the social-political participation that foster the autonomy of adolescents. Through researches on the actual levels and degrees of the social participation by internet and the analysis of relation between the social participation by internet and autonomy in youth, the effective measures can be expected for the cultivating autonomy in adolescents. As the results of the present study, the experience of social participation by internet appeared 'Yes' at 82.4%. But it was mostly naive, temporary and individual type. In addition, if they had more interests in their society, if they tended to do it more for the communication and if they had more conversations about social issues with their parents, they were appeared to do more social participation by internet than cases opposite. As the result of hierarchical regression to verify effective variables on the autonomy, the social participation by internet was appeared to have significantly a positive impact on the autonomy.

본 연구는 청소년의 인터넷사용특성에 따른 인터넷 사회참여의 실태를 알아보고, 청소년기의 생애핵심역량 중의 하나인 자율적 역량에 인터넷사회참여가 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 중다회귀분석을 통해 살펴보았다.
연구결과, 청소년의 인터넷사회참여는 여학생일수록, 사회에 대한 관심이 많을수록, 주로 의사소통을 목적으로 인터넷을 사용할수록, 부모와 사회와 관련해 대화를 많이 나눌수록 더 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 인터넷사회참여는 자율성 중에서도 ‘자신의 권리와 한계를 알고 요구하기’와 상관관계가 높게 나타났다. 그리고 중다회귀분석 결과, 인터넷사회참여는 청소년의 자율성에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구는 청소년의 인터넷사회참여의 유형을 분류해 보다 체계적으로 실태를 파악하고자 한데 의의가 있고, 인터넷사회참여와 자율성과의 유의미한 관계성을 보여줬다는 데 의미가 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해, 향후 청소년의 자율성 함양을 위해 인터넷사회참여를 확대하는 것에 대한 인식을 제고할 수 있었다.
