Campbell not merely stressed the story of Jesus Christ in preaching a sermon, but also focused on congregational training for people to become the disciples and witnesses of Jesus Christ in the church, while struggling with the principalities and powers of world.
In the course of time, however, he started developing his homiletical theory. Under postliberal theology, he created an ethical preaching mode by preaching the story of Jesus Christ. In other words, Campbell tried to incorporate his postliberal theology with Walter Wink and William Stringfellow’s theological views that led him to create a new mode for ethical preaching. Moreover, he wanted preachers to use his unique ethical preaching mode to build up their congregations, and to struggle against the spiritual powers of the world. In order to battle against the demonic powers of the world, Campbell strongly suggests to Christians some nonviolent resistance, because they must follow Jesus Christ"fs lifestyle and teachings.
In order to criticize and evaluate his ethical preaching method, to begin with, researches will examinate his ethical preaching method"fs advantages and disadvantages. After criticizing and evaluating, researches will try to provide Campbell"fs theological insights with through the study.
