This study has been carried out to look into the effects of 247 sign language interpreters' perception of deaf culture on their competency. The findings are. as follows:
Firstly, sign language interpreters’' perception of deaf culture was more positive and higher when they had longer experiences of deaf-related working centers, careers and interpretation activiη experiences.
Secondly, sign language interpreters’competency was examined according‘to gender, age, working centers, careers, interpretation activity experiences,' and deaf-club related activities.
Thirdly, the effects of sign language interpreters' perception of deaf culture on their competency showed that the higher the identity with the deaf culture, sign language of the deaf, and organizational network, the more positive sign language interpreters' grasp of deaf culture was, and the higher their competency became.
