Education of motion is an important factor in one's life, and dancing is an action creatively expressing one's thoughts and feelings, which means that dancing is not simply an art of simple functional learning, but a compound action which requires both physical and creative action. In modern days, creativity is being acknowledged as an important ability more than anything else, and the importance of dancing education is increasing in regards to one's development of individuality, imagination, and creation. As creative education through instinctive and aesthetic action, dancing is an education to enable everyone of expressing one's potential artistic ability. Furthermore, dancing education aims at the formation of oneself through creative activity, which enables one to perceive one's life and harmonize one with his or her society, suggesting a more splendid way to one's life, especially greatly influencing infants' affective and perceptive development. In the point of educational view, dancing endows one with balanced development of concentration and consciousness, and also, organizes one's thoughts by systemizing one's inner world through physical language. Dancing education is proving to have positive effects regarding whole-personal development, creative thinking, establishment of the concept of one's ego, and development in sociality.

무용은 동작을 통해서 자신의 생각과 느낌 등을 창의적으로 표현하는 행위이며, 신체적 활동과 창의적 활동이 요구되는 복합적인 행위임을 의미한다. 현대사회에 있어서 창의력은 무엇보다도 중요한 능력이며, 개인의 독창성이나 상상력, 창의력 발달의 측면에서 무용 교육의 중요성은 갈수록 커지고 있다. 무용은 본능적, 미적 행동에 의한 창의적인 교육으로서 잠재된 예술적 재능을 표출하기 위한 교육이며, 창조적 활동을 통한 인간 형성을 지향하고 있으므로, 생에 대한 자각과 개인과 사회 사이에서의 조화 있는 삶을 누리게 하고 보다 풍부한 인간 형성의 길을 제시해 주며, 특히 유아의 정의적, 인지적 발달에 큰 영향을 미친다. 조기 무용 교육은 유아 신체 발달 과정에서 지적 정서적 사회적 발달에 매우 긍정적인 효과를 드러내고 있다. 무용 교육을 통해서 전인적 발달에 긍정적 효과가 검증되었으며, 특히 창의적 사고, 자아개념 확립 등 사회성이 발달하는 등 긍정적 효과가 있다.
