The purpose of this study was to define the sex-role identities of girl high school students who majored in dance and were exposed to special experience and learning course, by examining whether there would be any significant gap in sex-role identities between them and other girl high school students who were not dance major. The subjects in this study were 200 girl students selected by systematic stratified cluster random sampling, who included 100 from a girls' high school and 100 dance majors from an art high school in Seoul. After a survey was conducted, 400 questionnaires were collected. And the responses from 391 students were chosen for analysis. The instrument used in this study was the sex-role identity questionnaire for dance-major girl high school students based on Kim Young-hui's Korean Sex-Role Inventory(KSRI), which is a revised version of Bem(1974)'s Bem Sex-Role Inventory(BSRI) to fit our situations. The collected data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA. As a result of investigating the sex-role identities difference between the girl students in the art and regular high schools and trying to clarify the sex-role identities of the dance majors, the following findings were obtained: The girl students who majored in dance appeared to be more masculine, feminine and androgynous in sex-role identities, compared to the regular high school students, and the gap between the two groups was mostly significant. Therefore, the hypotheses posed in this study were all accepted. The findings of this study that the dance-major girl high school students had more masculine, feminine and androgynous sex-role identities suggest that dance served to increase the masculinity and femininity of students and to socialize their sex role identities in more forward manner.

본 연구는 무용 전공 여고생의 성 역할 정체감이 일반여고생의 성 역할 정체감과 의미있는 차이가 있는지를 밝혀 특수한 경험과 학습을 거친 무용 전공 여고생의 성 역할 정체감을 실증적으로 규명하는 데 목적이 있다. 이같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 서울 시소재 여자고등학교 여고생과 예술고등학교 무용 전공 여고생을 모집단으로 선정하여 유층 집락 무선 표집(systematic stratified clusterrandomsampling)으로 무작위할 당하여 100명씩 총 200명을 표집, 설문지를 배포하여 400부를 회수하여 391부를 본연 구의 분석 자료로 사용하였다. 설문지는 Bem(1974)의 성 역할 검사지(BSRI: Bem Sex Role Inventory)를 바탕으로 한국 실정에 맞게 제작한 김영희(1988)의 한국형 성역할 검사지(KSRI : Korean Sex Role Inventory)를 토대로 구성한 <무용 전공 여고생의 성 역할 정체감> 설문지를 사용하였고 수집된 자료는 일원변량 분석(One-way ANOVA)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 이상의 연구 방법을 사용하여 본 연구에서는 먼저 무용 전공 여고생의 성 역할 정체감을 규명하려는 목적으로 예술고등학교 여고생과 인문계 여고생의 성 역할 차이를 알아보았으며, 이 같은 방법으로 얻어진 연구 결과를 기초로 하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 무용 전공 여고생이 일반여고생에 비하여 남성성과 여성성, 중성성이 높게 나타났으며 통계적으로도 대부분 유의한 차이가 나타나서 본 연구의 가설은 모두 지지되었다. 무용 전공 여고생이 일반여고생에 비하여 남성성과 여성성, 중성성이 모두가 높다 는 본 연구의 결과는 무용이 남성성과 여성성 모두를 증가시켜 개인을 진보적인 방향으로 성역할 사회화시킨다는 점을 시사한다.
