The church, with its concept of koinonia and shalom, seems to be the right institution to help multicultural families. For improving relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of a multicultural family, the purpose of this research is to understand multicultural families, closely look at relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law from the biblical perspective, and
propose a program to better the relationship applicable to the church. The program to improve relationship between mother-in-law and daughterin- law of a multicultural family consists of five sessions and is organized in such a way to solve psychological problems and day-to-day difficulties centering around marriage migrant women and their mothers-in-law. The program focuses on comprehending the Korean family hierarchy, identifying the causes of conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law typically stemming from cultural differences and lack of understanding, emphasizing the division of roles between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and restoring the relationship between them as directed by God. Naomi, motherin- law, and Ruth, alien daughter-in-law, in the book of Ruth exemplify the relationship transcending different cultures among races and nations. According to the biblical principles based on this kind of relationship, the program places a focus on helping those mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law
respect each other without bias and lead a full life as Christians.

교회의 코이노이아와 샬롬의 개념은 교회가 다문화가정을 돕는데 적당한 기관임을 보여준다. 본 연구의 목적은 다문화가정의 고부관계향상을 위해 다문화가정에 대한 이해와 성경적 관점에서의 고부관계를 살펴보고, 교회에서 적용할 수 있는 다문화가정 고부관계향상프로그램을 제안하는데 있다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 다문화가정 고부관계향상프로그램은 5회기로 구성되어 있고 결혼 이주여성과 그들의 시어머니를 중심으로 현실적이고 심리적인 어려움을 해소할 수 있도록 구성되어 있다. 그 내용은 한국가족의 위계구조, 서로의 문화차이와 이해부족에서 오는 고부갈등의 원인들을 이해하고, 고부의 역할분담을 강조하며, 하나님께서 제정하신 고부관계의 회복시도에 관한 것이다. 성경 룻기의 시어머니 나오미와 이방며느리 룻은 인종과 국가 간의 서로 다른 문화를 초월한 고부관계를 보여준다. 본 프로그램은 이러한 인격적 관계에 근거한 성경 원리에 따라서 고부가 서로 존중하는 그리스도인으로의 성숙한 삶을 나누도록 돕는데 초점을 맞추고 있다.
