In this thesis we found that 이언진 had a tendency of using a lot of colloquial Chinese(白話) in is poems. The usage of colloquial Chinese(白話) in Lee, Eun-jin(이언진)'s poetry does not just end up borrowing some vocabularies. It is broadly applied in all word classes.
As a natural consequence, if we do not focus on colloquial Chinese(白話), it is impossible to understand Lee, Eun-jin‘s poetry accurately. This is why Lee, Eun-jin’s poetry has been considered knotty and has not been able to translated correctly. Most of colloquial Chinese(白話) in Lee, Eun-jin‘s poetry that's meaning is unclear because it is not on the dictionary is as we can see clearly on poems examined in chapter 3, borrowed from chinese classics like Suhoji(『수호지』). As a result, if we don't know how colloquial Chinese(白話) is used in which context in those classics, it is impossible to understand the meaning.
Except for some phrases of which we cannot find the usage so that we cannot understand the meaning, we can almost translate most of colloquial Chinese(白話). And as we can translate colloquial Chinese(白話) we have base to translate Lee, Eun-jin's poems to korean.
By actively accepting colloquial Chinese(白話), Lee, Eun-jin opened up the possibility of new style of Chinese poetry. This new style that is free of norms and formality combined with Lee, Eun-jin‘s mind that seek new world, cultivated unique literature that does not have similar cases in the history of korean poetry.

이 논문에서 우리는 이언진 시에 백화가 대단히 많이 사용되었다는 사실을 구체적으로 확인하였다. 이언진 시에서의 백화 사용은 단어 몇 개의 차용 수준이 아니라 모든 품사에 걸치는 광범위한 것이었다.
당연하게도 백화에 주목하지 않는다면 이언진 시의 정확한 독해는 애당초 가능하지 않다. 이언진 시가 대단히 난해하다고 인식되어 왔으며, 바르게 번역되지 못하였던 가장 큰 이유 가운데 하나는 백화 때문이다. 이언진 시에 사용된 백화 가운데 사전에도 올라 있지 않아 그 뜻을 알 수 없었던 상당수는, 3장에서 검토한 몇 시의 경우에서 특히 잘 알 수 있듯이 『수호지』등 중국 고전에서 온 것들이다. 그렇기 때문에 그 고전 작품에서 그 백화 단어(구절)가 어떤 맥락에서 어떤 의미로 쓰였는 가를 알지 못하면 해독이 불가능하다.
근거(용례)를 찾지 못해 그 의미를 파악할 수 없는 구절 몇 개를 빼고는 이언진 시에 나오는 백화의 해독이 가능해졌다고 생각한다. 백화 해독이 가능해짐으로써 이언진 시를 우리말로 옮길 수 있는 바탕이 비로소 마련되었다.
백화를 적극적으로 수용함으로써 이언진은 새로운 한시 문체의 가능성을 열었다.
격식과 규범에서 벗어난 이 새로운 문체는 새로운 세계를 꿈꾸었던 이언진의 정신과 결합하여 한국 한시사에서 그 비슷한 예를 찾기 어려운 개성의 문학을 일구었다.
