The purpose of this study is to create teaching materials on type-letter that meets the objective of effective information technology, which is employed in the chapter “Understanding of Traditional Technology” in the Revised Education Course of 2007 on the section of technology and home economics.
In the development of these teaching materials, data have been gathered after the orderly process of analysis, design, improvement, execution, and assessment on the basis of the spelling system in ADDIE’s model; and the summary of this process is as follow:
First, the purpose and the content of information technology in the field of traditional technology have been developed through the analysis of demand, the educator, and the text. Second, the purpose of its teaching has been selected in the development process. Teaching strategies as well as hands-on activities and other teaching materials have been additionally selected along with the pre and post surveys that will gather additional data to obtain its validity. Third, the instructor-teaching plans have been made for the overall teaching of the information technology in the field of traditional technology to meet the teaching objectives in the development process, which will reinforce the teaching of the change in civilization through the improvement of printing technology. Fourth, any issues related to these teaching plans have been examined and remediated in the development process by the actual application of them during the teaching phase. Fifth, the final revision has been made in the assessment process through pre and post surveys for the effective evaluation.
The teaching materials developed in this study has been made for people to take pride and have positive outlook in the originality and excellence of Korean traditional technology, understand printing technology and the value of metal-type thorough the hands-on experience of metal-type.

이 연구는 기술․가정 교과의 2007년 개정 교육과정에서 ‘전통기술의 이해’ 단원의 도입에 따른 통신기술영역의 효과적인 교육 목표 달성을 위한 활자만들기 수업자료를 개발하는데 있다. 수업자료 개발을 위하여 ADDIE 모형의 절차에 따라 분석, 설계, 개발, 실행, 평가의 단계를 거쳐서 수업자료를 개발하였고, 그 구체적인 내용은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 요구분석, 학습자 분석, 교과서 분석을 통하여 전통기술 중 통신기술에 대한 학습 목표와 학습 내용을 설계하였다. 둘째, 설계단계에서는 학습목표를 선정하고, 학습목표를 달성하기 위한 교수전략과 교수 매체로 체험활동 및 학습 자료를 선정하였고, 타당도를 확보하기 위한 사전검사지, 사후검사지를 만들었다. 셋째, 개발단계에서는 학습목표 도달을 위한 교수-학습지도안과 학습지활동지를 만들어 전통기술 중 통신기술에 대한 전반적인 학습을 하며, 인쇄기술의 발달에 따른 인류의 변화에 대해 학습할 수 있도록 하였다. 넷째, 실행단계에서는 수업에 적용하여 문제점을 수정 보완하였다. 다섯째, 평가단계에서는 개발된 사전․사후 검사지를 통하여 수업자료를 평가하여 최종 수정․보완하였다.
개발된 수업자료는 인쇄기술과 금속활자의 가치에 대해서 이해하고 우리 민족의 우수한 전통을 배움으로써 우리 전통 기술의 독창성과 우수성을 인식하고 전통기술에 대한 자부심과 바람직한 태도를 키울 수 있다고 할 수 있다.
