In this nation where whose culture and social system are still based on patriarchism. physically disabled women have been exposed to lots of discrimination in all aspects of their life, especially in relation to ‘physical disability’ itself, ‘being as a woman’ and ‘poverty.’ More notably, physically disabled women are experiencing lots of difficulties in executing, rights inherent in women like child rearing which also belong to main maternal functions. Child rearing provide physically disabled women with positive experiences, for example, forming self-esteem and overcoming psychological disorder. But they also become much burden to those women in association with difficulties related to the women's physically disability. The purpose of this study is to make a better understanding of physically disabled women's lives through listening to their voices about experiences related to child rearing, which are rights only inherent in women. For the purpose, this researcher made a qualitative research of 7 physically disabled women who were married. In detail, the researcher surveyed those women individually by using the open-ended in-depth interview between June and October 2008. To make more reliable and valid results of the survey and their interpretations, the researcher utilizing long-term relationships with the subjects and the triangulation of data sources. To keep data, the interviews were tape-recorded. To analyze the collected data, the researcher applied the constant comparative analysis which aims to refining related scales by repeating data comparison. Findings of this study can be summarized as follows. In this study, physically disabled women's experiences related to child rearing were classified into stress and self-fulfillment from pregnance, the process of delivery, and delight and burden out child rearing. First, physically disabled women were feeling both delight and burden about rearing their child. The surveyed women of this study found themselves pleased about their child's growth and role as an important provider of support to the physically disabled mother. But at the same time, the respondents were experiencing lots of burden about child rearing because of lack in child-rearing skills due to their physical disability, financial difficulties and their husband's little support.

장애여성은 임신・출산・자녀양육 등을 통해 긍정적 자아 형성이나 심리적 장애극복 등의 긍정적 경험을 하는 반면, 장애로 인한 현실적 어려움 등으로 인해 임신・출산・자녀양육의 부담을 느끼게 된다. 이에 본 연구는 여성장애인 자신들의 목소리를 통해 여성이면서 장애인인 그들이 이야기하는 여성 고유의 권리 중 하나인 임신・출산・자녀양육을 하면서 겪게 되는 다양한 경험을 이해하고, 여성장애인의 삶에 대한 이해를 높이고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해서 기혼의 지체장애여성 7명을 대상으로 질적 연구방법을 활용하였다. 본 연구를 통해 밝혀진 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 지체장애여성의 임신․출산․자녀양육의 경험은 크게 배우자와의 결혼, 임신에 대한 스트레스와 충만함, 출산의 과정, 자녀양육의 기쁨과 부담감으로 분류되었다. 임신․출산․자녀양육의 과정에서 지체장애여성들은 장애로 인한 한계, 차별, 경제적 빈곤 등의 이중, 삼중의 부담을 경험하고 있다. 임신․출산․자녀양육의 각 과정별 차별화된 지원이 필요하며, 지체장애라는 특수성에 따른 욕구를 만족시키기 위한 사회적 서비스가 지원되어야 할 것이다.
