This study aims to analyze narrations of from the perspective of context according to the chances of singing and of reciting the narrations, thus to classify types of narrations according to the circumstances of reciting the narrations and of rowing motions. This is because it becomes possible to properly analyze and understand Divers' Rowing Songs> only when the facts are clarified as to which narrations were recited when according to the chances of singing and as to which narrations were recited in which ways according to the circumstances of reciting the narrations. The chance of singing was the labor of rowing to go diving or to move to the mainland. Also, the site of reciting was the sea, which was subject to frequent changes in the current,
direction of wind and wave height according to climate conditions. Accordingly, it was found important to classify types of narrations with an emphasis placed on the circumstances in the sites of reciting and the chances of singing. Based on the chances of singing, the narrations of the are classified per ① going out to the sea for diving, ②
returning from the sea after diving and ③ moving to the mainland, etc. Based on the circumstances of the sea as the site of reciting the narrations, classification is made per ① in times of violent wave and adverse wind, ② in times of great wave and no wind, ③ in times of gentle wave and no wind, ④ in times of gentle wave and fair wind and ⑤ when passing through narrow straits, etc. The narrations of were classified into two types according to the circumstances in the site of reciting and rowing motions. One is when the wave is violent or when fast rowing is required. The other is when the wave is gentle or when rowing is done slowly. For the former, the tuneless refrain of 'Iyeossa(이여싸), Jyeorajyeora(져라져라), Jyeorabegyeora(져라벡여라)' is sung. As for the narration, convergent narrations are mostly recited rather than the divergent. This is because the contents of narrations can be a way of encouraging the act of rowing and of executing instructive functions. For the latter, the refrain of
'Iyeodosana(이여도사나), Iyeosana(이여사나), Iyeossa(이여싸)' with a tune is sung. As for the narration, divergent narrations, rather than the convergent, are mostly recited. This is because the sea, as the site of reciting, is in stable conditions, therefore the circumstances are suitable
for the women divers' to lament their misfortunes or to sing about emotional issues in life, such as of love, etc.

본고의 목적은 현장론적인 입장에서 <해녀노젓는소리> 사설을 가창기연과 구연 현장 상황을 기준으로 사설을 분류하고 분석한 다음에, 구연 현장의 상황과 노젓는 동작에 따른 사설의 유형을 나누는 데 있다. <해녀노젓는소리>는 가창기연에 따라 어떤 사설이 언제 불리는가, 구연되는 현장의 상황에 따라 어떤 사설이 어떻게 불렸는가 등의 실상이 밝혀져야 제대로 분석되고 이해될 수 있기 때문이다. <해녀노젓는소리>는 가창기연은 뱃물질을 오가거나 본토로 출가(出稼)할 때 노 젓는 노동이고, 그 구연 장소가 조류와 풍향․파고 등의 기상 조건에 따라 수시로 변할 수 있는 바다이기 때문에 가창 기연과 구연 현장의 상황을 중시하여 사설의 유형을 분류하는 것이 중요하다는 사실을 확인하였다. 가창 기연을 기준으로 <해녀노젓는소리> 사설을 분류하면 ① 물질하러 나갈때, ② 물질하고 돌아올 때, ③ 본토로 출가(出稼)할 때 등으로 분류할 수 있다. 또한 구연 현장인 바다의 상황을 기준으로 <해녀노젓는소리> 사설을 분류하면 ① 激波와 逆風일 때, ② 大波와 無風일 때, ③ 小波와 無風일 때, ④ 小波와 順風일때, ⑤ 목[項]을 지나갈 때 등으로 분류할 수 있다. 구연 현장의 상황과 노 젓는 동작에 따라 <해녀노젓는소리> 사설을 두 가지 유형으로 나누었다. 하나는 파도가 세거나 노를 빠르게 저어야 할 때이고, 다른 하나
는 파도가 잔잔하거나 노를 천천히 저을 때이다. 전자의 경우는 ‘이여싸, 져라져라, 져라벡여라’와 같은 가락 없는 후렴을 부르고 사설은 발산형 사설보다 수렴형 사설을 중심으로 가창한다. 사설 내용이 노 젓는 일을 독려하고 지시적 기능을 수행하기 위한 하나의 방편이 될 수 있기 때문이다. 후자의 경우는 ‘이여도사나, 이여사나, 이여싸’와 같은 가락 있는 후렴을 부르고 사설은 수렴형 사설보다 발산형 사설을
중심으로 가창한다. 구연 현장인 바다가 안정된 상황이기 자신의 신세를 한탄하거나 애정 문제 같은 생활 감정을 노래하기에 적합하기 때문에 그렇다.
