This writing organized the topic, disease of the Sino-Korean Poetry, divided into four cases which are 1) a case going to Pathos, Self-Pity and Salvation 2) a case going to Humor 3) a case gathering the attention to the disease of surrounding people 4) a case becoming the medium about anti-societal mourning and anger. Those corresponds to the four emotional aspects such as sorrow, laughter, feeling sorry, and anger. Those can be cited as characteristic tendencies. First, it is true that the vulgar sight was barely existent. It is the characteristic different from the
thing described vulgarly on sicken body of someone in the proverbs, traditional Korean narratives, lyrics, and so on. Second, it is possible to know that the focus is one's own disease over others' disease. It is related to the fact that the genre called Sino-Korean Poetry is lyricism based on aesthetic appreciation. Third, when others’ disease is used as a topic, it involves generally the feeling of anger. At this time, the topic called disease was used a medium for criticizing the social problems. There is a clear difference in the topic of disease used in the
Sino-Korean Poetry and the Modern Korean Literature. In the latter, disease is used as a metaphor for alluding emergence of sick individuals. However, disease as it is used in the Sino-Korean Poetry lacks this type of societal metaphor. Despite this limitation, however, the topic of disease is used to enrich the Sino-Korean Poetry on the literary level.

이 글은 한국한시에서 질병이라는 소재가 어떤 양태로 존재하고 있는지를 몇 갈래로 나누어 정리한 것이다. 질병 소재의 한시 작품들이 시적 질감의 층위에서 다양한 차이를 지니고 있었으나, 이를 1) 비애와 연민 그리고 초연으로 향하는 경우, 2) 해학으로 뻗어나간 경우, 3) 주변인의 질병에 시선을 모으는 경우, 4) 대사회적 비탄과 분노의 매개가 되는 경우로 나누어 개괄하였다. 이는 서글픔, 웃음, 안타까
움, 분노라는 네 갈래의 정서적 국면과 대응될 수 있다. 질병 소재에 대처하는 한국한시의 특징적 경향은 우선 비속한 시선이 거의 나타나지 않았다는 사실이다. 이는 속담, 판소리, 가사 등에서 타인의 병든 몸을 비하적으로 묘사하는 것과 다른 특징이다. 또한 한국한시에서는 한시라는 장르가 서정양식에 속하고 심미성을 지향하기 때문에, 타인의 질병보다는 자신이 앓는 질병에 시선을 집중했음을 알 수 있었다. 곧 타인의 질병을 소재로 삼는 경우가 상대적으로 드물었던 것이다. 다만, 질병에 대해 분노의 감정을 수반하는 일군의 작품에서는, 질병에 대한 서정적 응시라기보다는 질병과 연계된 기아, 유민, 민생파탄 등의 소재와 더불어 사회적 모순을 비판하는 매개체로 활용되곤 했다. 한국한시의 질병 소재는 근대문학에서의 그것과도 분명한 차이가 있었다. 예컨대 근대문학에서의 질병은 병적 개인의 등장을 사회적 은유로서 주시하기도 했으나, 한국한시의 영역에서 바라본 질병이라는 문학적 소재는 개인을 매개로 한 사회적 은유가 미약했다. 하지만 이러한 한계를 밀쳐두고, 질병이라는 소재가 한국한시의 문학적 자양분으로 두루 활용되었다는 사실은 변함없다.
