In Wenxian Tongkao, which a scholar of Song-Yuan dynasties, Ma Tuanlin compiled, the National systems of many generations are included based on a variety of source materials. Among them, Jing Ji Kao was written to help scholars raise wider academic grounding by providing information of the books for them. Therefore, there are various kinds of source materials from the Confucian classics and dictionaries of many generations to a catalogues of books, discussion, a collection of works and an anthology of poems in the book. Among then, in particular, Chong Wen Zong Mu, Jun Zhai Room Reader's List and Zhi Zhai Shu Lu Jie Ti were mainly quoted and using the ways in the citation of them, Wenxian Tongkao can be an important historical material to recreate the original form of nonexistent materials and we can find out which edition was the original materials to write Jing Ji Kao. Wenxian Tongkao with such advantages was recognized to be a fairly authoritative book, since it was first introduced in the Late Goryeo Dynasty and after that, it was very actively used as a material to consider all kinds of systems and expand the basis of knowledge for Royal families and intelligentsia across Joseon Dynasty.

송원시대의 학자 마단림이 편찬한 󰡔문헌통고󰡕에는 다양한 전거자료를 토대로 역대의 전장제도(典章制度)가 수록되어 있는 책이다. 그 중 경적고는 학자들에게 해당 서적에 대한 정보를 제공함으로써 그들의 학문적 소양을 넓히는 데 도움을 주고자 편찬된 것으로, 그 안에는 경서 및 역대 사서로부터 서목집과 제가들의 의론 및 문집, 시집에 이르기까지 각종 다양한 전거자료가 인용되어 있다. 그 중에서도 특히 『숭문총목』, 과 『군재독서지』, 『직재서록해제』, 가 주로 인용되었는데, 이들 인용방식을 통해 『문헌통고』가 현존하지 않는 자료의 원형을 복원하는데 귀중한 사료가 될 수 있다는 점과 당시 어떠한 판본을 저본으로 경적고를 저술해 나간 것인지를 확인해 볼 수 있다는 점에서 가치를 지닌다. 이러한 가치를 지니는 『문헌통고』는 이미 고려말에는 국내에 유입되어 상당한 권위를 지닌 서적으로 인식되었고, 이후 조선시대 전반에 걸쳐 왕실 및 지식인 계층에서 각종 제도를 상고하고 지식기반을 확충하는 자료로서 매우 활발하게 이용되었다.
