Sung Hyun who has been lived in Chung -cheong province was one of I-Ching scholars. He had no any famouse teachers nor eminent academic successors. But he enjoyed good reputation of outstanding scholar of I-Ching in his age. The book written by him was fulled with the articles about I-Ching Studies. His I-Ching Studies was formed by self studing the the book of Shao- Wong's, Cheong-I's I-Chuan, Chushi's Bun-I, and some kind of traditional manual book of divination. In interpreting the hexagrams, he stressed on the order, the judgement, the image of the hexagrams, and also he could not fail the philosophical and ethical meanings of that hexagrams. In addition this, he had tried to apply his own image of things and the sexagenary cycle of heaven and earth to study that. And also he had applied the principle of I-Ching to study our bodies and voices. His studies of our bodies and voices in terms of I-Ching, are some strange to us. The logics and concepts in his book of his self acquired painfully that I could understand could be no more than one of ten. But we could view the ceaseless stream of I-Ching Studies unique in the Chung-Cheong province such as Ilbu Jeong Yeok, Yasan Yeok

회재 성현은 기호(畿湖) 지역 재야 역학자이다. 사승(師承)도 뚜렷하지 않고 후학(後學)의 맥도 드러나지 않는다. 그럼에도 그는 생존시 역학(易學)으로 상당한 명망을 떨치고 있었다. 그의 문집 󰡔회재집(懷齋集)󰡕은 대부분 역학 관련 저술로 채워져 있다. 그의 역학은 주로 소강절 역학과 이천 󰡔역전󰡕 그리고 주희의 󰡔본의󰡕 그리고 민간에 전승되어오는 역술서적들을 독학으로 익혀 형성된 듯하다. 그는 역괘 해석에 있어서 서괘·단·상을 중시하고 있고 의리적 해석의 줄기를 놓지 않는다. 한편 특유의 물상론을 지니고 납갑을 겸한 해석을 시도한다. 그리고 인체와 우리말 성음 등에 역의 원리를 적용하고 또 발견한다. 그의 ‘주역 인문학’은 이러한 산물로서 독학(獨學) 창견(創見)의 맛이 있다. 그러나 그의 역학(易學)은 낯선 개념도 많고 논리도 생소하다. 필자가 이해할 수 있는 부분이 그가 자득한 것의 열의 하나도 되지 못할 것이다. 그의 역학은 이후 기호지역의 一夫易 也山易 등 독특한 역학(易學)의 면면한 줄기를 짐작하게 한다.
