This study aimed at examining the relation between delinquent adolescents' mental disorder disposition and violent crimes, and this study aimed at suggesting following policy, based on the study results. In the examination of the relationship between adolescents' mental disorder disposition and violent crimes, property crime was set as a comparison target for relative comparison. The types of mental disorder disposition is categorized 3 types by DSM-Ⅳ. There are mental disease (depression, hypomania, paranoia and schizophrenia) disposition, anti-sociability disposition and mental retardation disposition. The subjects of the study included a total of 1,155 adolescents, 557 of whom were violent criminals and the other 598 were property offenders. The results of MMPI-A test and special aptitude test conducted on delinquent juveniles at S The Juvenile Protection Education Institute were utilized. In addition, the collected data in this study were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 to gain basic statistical results and to respond the research questions. With respect to the categorization and clinical interpretation of mental disorder, and psychological analysis, I received advice from a psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist though individual interviews with them. The findings gained through the analysis of the research questions confirmed that delinquent juveniles with schizophrenia or personality anti-sociability disposition are more likely to commit violent crimes than property crimes. And the comparison though prevalence rates showed that adolescents with depression, paranoia, hypomania, schizophrenia, anti-sociability are more likely to commit crimes than normal persons. As mental retardation, it is found that the prevalence of mental retardation are same between normal persons and violent adolescents criminal. Based on the study results, the following policy suggestions were made. First, I suggest to conduct a psychological test in police investigation. Second, I should provided specialized mental staff. Third, I need specialized psychiatry program in correctional facilities. Fourth, some improvement should be made to rehabilitate in community.

이 연구는 비행청소년의 정신장애 성향과 폭력범죄와의 관계성을 알아보고, 연구결과를 토대로 정책적 개선방안을 강구하는데 목적을 둔다. 정신장애 성향과 폭력범죄와의 관계성을 연구함에 있어서 상대적인 비교를 위하여 재산범죄를 비교대상으로 삼았고, 정신장애 성향의 유형을 정신병(우울증․경조증․편집증․정신분열증) 성향, 반사회성 성향, 정신지체 성향으로 나누어 살펴보았다. 연구대상자는 폭력범죄자 557명과 재산범죄자 598명, 총 1,155명이고, 정신장애 성향을 측정하기 위하여 S 소년분류심사원에 위탁수용된 비행청소년을 대상으로 이루어진 MMPI-A 결과표와 '특수지능적성검사'의 결과표를 활용하였다. 수집된 자료에 대해서 SPSS 15.0을 이용하여 기초적인 통계량 산출 및 연구문제를 검증하였다. 그리고 정신장애 분류 및 임상해석 등과 관련해서는 정신과 의사와 임상심리학자의 개별면접을 통하여 자문을 받아 연구하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과, 정신장애 성향의 유형 중 정신분열증 성향과 반사회성 성향이 있는 비행청소년의 경우 재산범죄 보다 폭력범죄를 저지를 가능성이 높다는 사실이 확인되었다. 그리고 유병률을 통해서 비교해 본 결과, 우울증․편집증․경조증․정신분열증․반사회성 성향에서는 일반인들보다 폭력범죄 청소년의 경우 정신장애 성향이 나타날 가능성이 높은 것으로 조사되었으며, 정신지체 성향의 경우에는 일반인과 폭력범죄 청소년에게서 정신지체 성향의 발병율이 비슷하게 조사되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 정책적 개선방안을 강구하였다. 첫째, 경찰의 수사단계에서 정신감정 유치의 도입을 제안하고자 한다. 둘째, 교정기관내 전문 의료인력의 확충 및 양성이 필요하다. 셋째, 교정기관내 프로그램의 확충
