This study diagnosed the burnout state and analyzed factors that affected burnout with the level of emotional burnout, impersonality to clients, and loss of personal sense of achievement by using the MBI (Maslach Burnout Inventory) scale developed by Maslach among 102 counselors who work at the support center for women victims of sex trade. Maslach set the highest level of burnout as over 15 points for emotional burnout, over 8.6 for impersonality to clients, and lower than 13.8 for loss of personal sense of achievement. However, study results showed as follows. First, the score of emotional burnout of subjects was 19.1, loss of personal sense of achievement was 12.4, and impersonality to clients was 7.74. Emotional burnout exceeded the standard value that Maslach presented by far, but the loss of personal sense of achievement and impersonality to clients were came a little short of the standard. This indicates that the most exhaustive area is emotional burnout. Second, factors that affected emotional burnout were analyzed as the counselors' career in counseling, ineffective support service for women victims, and others. Factors influencing impersonality to clients appeared to be role conflicts and absence of promotion opportunities. Factors that affected the loss of personal sense of achievement were ineffective support service for women victims, career in counseling, age, and whether they were married. The following are ways to reduce the burnout of counselors for women victims of sex trade. First, reeducation programs are required to strengthen education time and contents for improving professionalism of counselors at the support organizations. Second, plans that institutionalize emotional support programs for reducing and curing the counselors' burnout should be prepared. Third, realistic service for women victims of sex trade should be provided. Fourth, a political device supporting the professionalism, diversity, and comprehension of counselors should be arranged.

본 연구는 성매매피해여성 지원센터에서 근무하는 상담원 102명을 대상으로 매슬락(Maslach)이 개발한 MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) 척도를 사용하여 정서적 고갈, 내담자에 대한 비인간화, 개인적 성취감의 결여 수준으로 소진상태를 진단하고 소진에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고자 하였다. 매슬락은 소진의 가장 높은 수준을 정서적 고갈은 15점 이상, 내담자에 대한 비인간화는 8.6점 이상, 개인적 성취감의 결여는 13.8점 이하로 설정하였으나 본 연구의 결과에서는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 첫째, 조사대상자의 정서적 고갈은 19.1점, 개인적 성취감의 결여가 12.4점, 내담자에 대한 비인간화는 7.74점으로 정서적 고갈은 매슬락이 제시한 기준치를 훨씬 넘었으나 개인적 성취감의 결여와 내담자에 대한 비인간화는 기준치에 약간씩 못 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 정서적 고갈에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 상담원의 상담경력, 피해여성에 대한 비효과적인 지원서비스 등으로 분석되었다. 내담자에 대한 비인간화에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 역할갈등, 승진기회의 부재로 나타났으며 개인적 성취감의 결여에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 피해여성에 대한 비효과적인 지원서비스, 상담경력, 연령, 결혼상태 등으로 조사되었다. 이와 같은 성매매 피해여성 상담원의 소진을 감소시키기 위해서는 첫째, 성매매 피해여성 상담원의 전문성 향상을 위한 교육시간과 내용을 보강하는 재교육 프로그램이 필요하다. 둘째, 상담원들의 소진예방과 소진치유를 위한 정서지원 프로그램을 제도화하는 대안이 마련되어야 할 것이다. 셋째, 성매매 피해여성을 위해 현실적 서비스가 제공되어야 할 것이다. 넷째, 상담원의 전문성과 다양성과 포괄성을 지원하는 제도적 장치가 마련되어야 할 것이다.
