The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the special features of undergraduate curriculum in the selected American universities and to draw their implications for developing the liberal studies major programs in the Korean universities. In the paper I discuss the educational philosophy and basic guidelines of the experiential learning and the international internship component in the liberal studies curriculum. As an illustrative case study I present a course proposal of global experiential learning for the curriculum in the College of Liberal Studies, Seoul National University.

이 연구의 목적은 미국 대학의 교과과정 사례를 분석하여 한국 대학 자유전공학부 교육체제 구축에 참고할 수 있는 시사점들을 제공하는 데 있다. 논문에서 체험학습의 기본 지침과 교육철학을 논의하고 미국 대학교육의 특성과 자유전공제도의 연관성, 그리고 국내외 현장학습 교과목과 자유전공프로그램의 관계를 설명했다.이와 더불어 미국 사례에 근거하여 서울대학교 지유전공학부의 해외현장학습 교과목 개발사례를 제시했다.
