In this article, the potentials and possibilities of educational anthropology in social studies education are searched for and explored. This task is to deconstruct and analyze the concept of citizens as educated man in social studies education, and to re-contemplate upon the concept from epistemological terms. In the history of the Western world, a human being was considered as an entity with a subjectivity of its own inside a relationship of 'I-It' a rational and individual being. Yet educated man in social studies education should be a being that can live with other peoples, as a member of a community. And for such being, it is important to have a subjectivity mutually formed and forged. They should have mutual subjectivity formed through contacts with 'I-You' and while it would be difficult to define a human type that cares for others and respects others as an entirely new human type, it would give us some valuable points in exploring alternative educated man in social studies education.

이 논문의 목적은 사회과 교육인간학의 가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 사회과교육 받은사람으로서 시민을 해체하고 존재론적 기원으로 돌아가 사회과교육 받은사람에 대해 성찰하는 것이다. 서양의 역사에서 인간은 ‘나-그것’의 관계에서 홀로주체성을 갖는 이성적이고 독립적인 존재였다. 하지만, 사회과교육 받은사람은 공동체 구성원으로 더불어함께 살아가는 인간을 요구한다. 이같은 사회과교육 받은사람에 대한 요구를 충족시키는 것이 서로주체성을 갖고 있는 인간상이다. ‘나-너’의 만남을 통해 주체성을 형성해가는 서로주체성을 갖고 있으며, 타자를 배려하고 인정할 수 있는 인간상을 하나의 인간상으로 규정할 수 없지만, 대안적인 사회과교육 받은사람을 탐색하는데 좋은 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
