This paper investigates the Significance of Moral Education in the Socratic ‘Eironeia’ which is visible from the Platon dialogue. 'The Socratic Method' accepted commonly as 'Elenchus' begins with Eironeia, and then connects with Elenchus and Aporia. The Eironeia is said to be in an intellectual predicament. It comes from Socrates' confession of ignorance and interlocutor's awareness of ignorance. The divine message of Delphi reveals Socrates with character which is most wise, but he confesses his ignorance. However, We don't regard Socrates who inquires a numerous moral knowledge with ignorance like his confession. The confession of ignorance is a strategy of Socrates that leads interlocutor with process of inquiry. The Socratic Eironeia suggests the possibility of philosophical inquiry and necessity of philosophical inquiry community from the moral education. Also it is possibility that could become the standard which sets the aim and a direction of moral education, and confirm the importance of question among dialogues. And it will be able to discover the features of Socrates as model of morality.

본 논문은 플라톤의 대화편에서 보이는 소크라테스의 ‘에이로네이아(Eironeia)’에 담긴 도덕교육적 의미를 탐구한 것이다. ‘엘렌코스(Elenchus)’로 통용되고 있는 ‘소크라테스의 방법’은 에이로네이아로 시작하여 엘렌코스와 아포리아로 연결된다. 에이로네이아는 소크라테스가 스스로 무지를 고백하고 대화상대자의 무지를 자각하게 하여 그를 지적으로 당황하게 만드는 것이다. 델피의 신탁은 소크라테스를 가장 현명한 자로 밝히지만, 정작 소크라테스 자신은 무지를 고백한다. 그런데 수많은 도덕적 앎을 탐구한 소크라테스를 그의 고백처럼 무지했다고 볼 수는 없다. ‘무지의 고백’은 대화상대자를 진실한 탐구의 과정으로 이끌어 가기 위한 소크라테스의 전략이다. 소크라테스의 에이로네이아는 도덕교육에서 철학적 탐구의 가능성과 철학적 탐구공동체의 필요성을 제시한다. 또한 도덕교육의 목표와 방향을 설정하는 기준이 될 수 있으며, 대화와 도덕교육에서 질문의 중요성을 확인시켜준다. 그리고 덕의 모범으로써의 소크라테스의 모습을 발견할 수 있다.
