This study was conducted for making empirical analysis of factors affecting the determination of college tuition fees, and providing useful information necessary for rational determination of college tuition fee in Korea. In order to attain the objective of this study, we reviewed related theories and previous researches through literature review, and empirical study was conducted through real data collection in web cites. And correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed to see the effect of determinants of college tuition fee on the college tuition fee. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, in the results of multiple regression analysis for examining the effect of financial index factors on the determination of tuition fee, college operating expenditure ratio and experimental expenditure per a student exert a significant negative influence on the determination of college tuition fee. Second, in the results of multiple regression analysis for examining the effect of educational condition index factors on the determination of tuition fee, educational expenditure per a student, registration ratio, research expenditure per a professor exert a significant positive influence on the determination of college tuition fee. But tuition fee restoration rate and lecture coverage ratio of full-time professor exert a significant negative influence on the determination of college tuition fee. Third, in the results of multiple regression analysis for examining the combination effect of financial and educational condition index factors on the determination of tuition fee, professor and staff salary ratio, educational expenditure per a student exert a significant positive influence on the determination of college tuition fee. But college operating expenditure ratio, basic educational equipment guarantee ratio, experimental expenditure per a student and lecture coverage ratio of full-time professor exert a significant negative influence on the determination of college tuition fee.

본 연구는 우리나라 전문대학의 등록금 결정에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 대하여 실증적으로 분석하여 향후 전문대학당국의 등록금 결정기준으로서 활용될 수 있도록 기초자료를 제공하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 문헌적 연구를 통하여 본 연구에 관련된 이론적 배경과 선행연구를 고찰하였으며, 이어서 실증연구방법으로서 한국사학진흥재단의 홈페이지를 통하여 사립전문대학의 실제 재무 및 교육여건 관련 자료를 입수 및 활용하였다. 입수된 자료를 분석하기 위한 통계적 방법으로서, 먼저 가설검증을 실시하기 전에 자료의 특성을 파악하기 위한 기초분석으로 기술통계분석을 실시하였다. 그리고 가설검증을 위한 분석기법으로는 각 변수들 간의 관계 유의성을 살펴보기 위하여 상관관계분석을 실시하였으며, 영향력 검증을 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전문대학 등록금 결정요인으로서 재무지표 요인들에 대한 영향력 여부를 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였는데, 등록금에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 재무지표의 요인은 없었으며, 등록금에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 재무지표 변수는 운영비율, 학생 1인당 실험실습비인 것으로 나타났다. 이는 운영비율이 낮을수록, 학생 1인당 실험실습비가 낮을수록 학생 1인당 등록금은 높게 나타남을 의미한다. 둘째, 전문대학 등록금 결정요인으로서 교육여건지표 요인들에 대한 영향력 여부를 검증하기 위하여 다중회귀분석을 실시하였는데, 등록금에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 교육여건지표 요인은 학생 1인당교육비, 학생등록률, 교수 1인당 연구비로 나타났다. 또한, 등록금에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 교육여건지표 요인은 등록금환원율, 전임교원 강의담당비율로 나타났다. 셋째, 전문대학 등록금 결정요인으로서 재무지표요인과 교육여건지표를 함께 분석한 결과에 의하면, 등록금에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 변수로는 인건비 구성비율, 학생 1인당교육비로 나타났으며, 부정적인 영향을 미치는 변수로는 운영비율, 학생 1인당 실험실습비, 전임교원 강의담당비율, 교육기본시설확보율로 나타났다.
