This study suggests the way of thick learning in an academical process as an alternative to teaching-learning by comparing and analyzing between the contents of ‘Ethics & Thought’ Subject and assessment items of Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation(KICE). This involves the fact that assessment items tend to deepen the contents of ‘Ethics & Thought’ textbook, as the frequency of the national scholastic achievement examination for the college entrance's taking place has been accumulated. In other words, this study is to overcome the gap in technical problems between the contents of the textbook and the assessment items of KICE. Therefore, this study seeks for the possibilities that substantial and elaborative learning can take place by doing ‘thick learning' in the initial teaching-learning process. And it has shown not only high-scholastic achievement but also been helpful in figuring out the meaning of philosophical reflection of thinker as a result of doing ‘thick learning'.

본 연구는 고등학교 심화 선택 교과인 ‘윤리와 사상’ 교과에 기술된 내용과 한국교육과정평가원(KICE)의 평가 문항을 비교 분석함으로써 교수-학습에 관한 하나의 대안으로 ‘깊이 읽기’ 학습을 제시한다. 이러한 배경에는 수능 평가의 횟수가 누적됨에 따라 KICE 문항이 교과서의 기술 내용을 한층 심화하는 경향을 보이고 있다는 점이 작용하고 있다. 다시 말해 교과서의 기술 내용과 KICE 문항 사이에서 나타나는 기술상의 차이를 극복하기 위해서이다. 본 연구는 이를 위한 방안으로 교수-학습의 첫 단계에서부터 ‘깊이 읽기’를 함으로써 관련 사상가의 사상에 대한 보다 충실하고 정교한 학습이 이루어질 수 있는 가능성을 탐색한다. 그리고 이러한 ‘깊이 읽기’의 과정을 실시한 결과 높은 학업 성취는 물론, 관련 사상가의 철학적 성찰의 진정한 의미를 파악하는 데에도 도움이 되었음을 알 수 있었다.
