This study researched the aims and the contents of the political education in moral education program in Korean school based on the moral foundations of politics. Considering the role of politics to resolve the ethical conflicts in society, to determine the common good or public good by the consensus, and to enlighten the morality of the persons, it is certain that moral educational program in school ought to contain a part of the political education. This study proposed the aims and the contents of political education which should be contained in moral education in the three aspects: the rationale of political community, the relationships between the person and the political community, and the interpersonal relationships in a democratic political community.

본 연구에서는 정치와 윤리의 관계, 도덕․윤리과 교육에서 정치 관련 교육의 필요성, 도덕․윤리과 교육에서 정치 관련 교육의 목표와 내용 등에 대해 검토하였다. 정치와 윤리의 관계는 밀접한 관계가 있다고 단언하여 말하기 어려우나 그렇다고 관계가 없다고 또한 단언하여 말하기 어렵다. 그러나, 윤리적 갈등을 해소하고 공동선의 결정이나 공공선에 대한 합의 장치로 기능하는 정치의 역할과 개인의 도덕적 행위에 지대한 영향을 주며 개인의 도덕성을 개발하는 정치의 속성을 고려해 볼 때, 도덕․윤리과 교육에서 정치 관련 교육이 필요함은 틀림없는 사실이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 도덕․윤리과에서 다루어야 하는 정치 관련 교육의 목표와 내용을 크게 세 가지 방향에서, 즉 정치 공동체의 존재 근거에 대한 탐색, 개인과 정치 공동체의 관계에 대한 탐색, 정치 공동체 내에서 개인과 개인의 관계에 대한 탐색 등으로 분류하여 제시하였다.
