In the 2000s, there are lots of novels which concerned in histories. The interests in histories can be expanded through the classic literatures in the recent novels. Rewriting of the classic literatures themselves are overthrown histories, therefore they have tendency to overturn histories. Through the end of an ideologies and the increase of the communicational networks, the multicultural boundaries are collapsing nowadays. Therefore, more liberated creativeness are the motive of taking in diverse forms of classic literatures. An author, Hwang suk young brings two main characters, Sim Cheong and Baridegi from the classic literatures into the place of the departmentalized disorder and disruption after the end of an ideology, Korea in the 2000s. And then erase two heroic women who sacrifice themselves to make filial piety and put a prostitute and a female refugee fled North Korea and expelled them from Korea. It can be learned that through the extensive amount of suffering that two women who have been expelled from Korea had, we can empty the memories from the original novels and drive forward to oblivion of which overturning the identities.

2000년대의 소설계는 유난히 역사를 소재로 한 작품들이 많이 등장했다. 이러한 역사에 대한 관심은 현대소설 속에서 발견되는 고전문학을 통해 그 영역을 확장해 나가고 있다. 고전의 다시 쓰기, 즉 패러디(parody)는 그 자체가 일종의 역사 뒤집기로서 전복적 성향을 갖는다. 특히 오늘날은 이데올로기의 종식과 통신망의 확대를 통해 문화의 다양한 경계가 무너지고 있다. 따라서 한층 자유로워진 상상력은 현대 소설의 내부로 다양한 고전 문학의 양식을 수용하는 원동력으로 작용한다. 황석영은 이데올로기의 종식 이후 혼란과 분열이 세분화된 2000년대의 한반도 속으로 고전소설의 주인공 ‘심청’과 서사무가의 주인공 ‘바리데기’를 불러낸다. 그리고는 목숨을 버려 효(孝)를 실천한 여성 영웅들의 이름을 지우고, 그 위에 ‘매춘여성’과 ‘탈북소녀’라는 새로운 이름을 새겨 넣고는 한반도 밖으로 몰아낸다. 이에 우리는 한반도 밖으로 밀려난 그녀들이 겪는 수난의 행보(行步)를 통해, 원본 소설이 갖는 기억을 비워내고 ‘동일성을 전복’하는 반(反)기억으로서의 ‘망각’을 추진해 나간다.
