International marriages have continuously increased. According to the tendency, multicultural families in Kunsan areas also augment constantly. Although the government in Kunsan has carried out various plans to assist multicultural families,not only have researches on their actual living statuses,which include families and children, not been achieved, but also any examination of their desires for welfare has not been done a tall. In order to improve the levels of welfare statuses of migrant women and their families and assist their adaptation to communities, researches on living conditions of multicultural families, their yearnings for welfare, potential abilities of the family members, and desires for the development of their abilities should be performed. In addition to this, outstanding care and assistance, which enable the family members to make the best use of their various family backgrounds, are necessary. On the bases of the suggestions, assistance plans are as followings.1. A multicultural policy, which focuses on the assistance center for multicultural families, should be carried out through sharing duties in systematic and consistent ways. 2. Diverse plans, which multicultural family members’ participation in community activities is taken into consideration, is necessary, beyond the reality that local government provides simply services such as Korean teaching, learning assistance, and assistance in the education of parents. 3. Intensive education, which focuses on the improvement of multicultural awareness, should be done for ordinary people. 4. In addition to this, schools and local communities should hold events to introduce diverse cultures, which multicultural families have. 5. In order to do this, scrutiny of the living conditions of multicultural families and their problems in Kunsan should be carried out, and a detailed and systematic examination of the degree of desire for welfare should be done. 6. On the basis of findings, specific and systematic plans for welfare, which help multicultural families adapt themselves to local communities, can be prepared.

우리나라의 국제결혼은 계속 증가할 것이고, 이러한 추세에 따라 군산지역의 다문화가정 역시 계속 늘고 있다. 군산지역에서 이들에 대한 다양한 시책을 시행하고 있으나, 구체적인 생활실태는 물론 가족 및 자녀에 대한 체계적인 조사도 이루어지지 않았다. 뿐만 아니라 복지욕구에 대한 파악은 전무한 실정이다.이에 다문화가정이주여성과 그 가족의 복지수준 향상 및 지역사회 적응을 지원하기 위해서는 다문화가정의 생활실태와 복지욕구는 물론 이들의 잠재적 능력과 능력개발에 대한 욕구를 파악할 수 있는 실태조사가 선행될 필요가 있다. 또한 이들이 가지는 다양한 배경을 강점으로 살릴 수 있도록 세심한 관심과 지원이 필요하다. 이를 토대로 제안된 지원방안은 다음과 같다. 1. 지역 내에서 다문화가족지원센터를 중심으로 체계적으로 역할을 분담하여 다문화정책을 일관성 있게 실현해 가야 할 것이다.2. 현재의 한국어지원, 학습지원, 부모교육 지원 등의 단편적 서비스에서 향후 지역사회참여 등을 적절히 고찰해 보는 방안도 필요하다.3. 일반인 대상 다문화 인식개선 차원의 강화교육이 이루어져야 한다. 4. 학교와 지역공동체에서도 그들의 문화를 소개하는 행사를 개최하는 등의 노력이 필요하다.5. 이를 위해 우선적으로 군산지역에 거주하는 다문화가족 관련 생활실태와 문제점을 파악하여 이들의 복지욕구에 대한 구체적이고 심층적인 요구도조사를 하는 것이 선행되어야 할 것이다. 그 결과를 토대로 다문화가족들의 지역사회 적응을 지원할 수 있는 구체적이고 체계적인 복지증진 방안을 마련할 수 있을 것이라 생각된다.
