The research purpose of this thesis was tracking the process as to by which symbols the New Year greetings are transcribed, formed and build up significance in the New Year's Card as well as discovering the deep values conceived unconsciously within lives of modern people and the original form. The detailed subjects followed by these things were identifying the shape oriented conflict structure, identifying the theme oriented conflict structure through the shape oriented conflict structure as well as the understanding and clarifying values of 'entering upon the New Year' and 'source of blessing' through this process.For the subject of research, the materials used most frequently targeting New Year's cards from 60 companies servicing New Year's card registered (currently as of January 10, 2009) in Naver (http://www.naver.com/) called '2009', 'cow' and 'sipjangsaeng (ten traditional oriental longevity symbols)' were used as subjects of analysis. As a result of research, if we look at the results of 6 types of analyzed materials with 3 types of patterns, one group was containin themes called 'declaration', 'success', 'activeness', 'leisure', 'independence' and 'future' while the opposite group was containing 'silence', 'frustration', 'passiveness', 'heartlessness', 'restraint' and 'present'. The themes falling under the first group are of the utopia which any human being would aspire after, but they are the ones close to an ideal outlook on the world as positive values that are difficult to reach or obtain. On the other hand, the themes of the second group are the ones that could be called fateful realistic outlook on the world as negative values that any human being would want to avoid, but difficult to overcome. The theme oriented conflict structure by set of such interpretation could be organized as conflict structure called deep structure oriented 'ideal' : 'Present'. These analyzed results are paradoxically giving speech of the fact that we must be cautious of an attitude of reading the surface revealed on the epistemological standpoint immediately.Because one theme can become related with many types of shape oriented processes, it has a possibility of giving various shapes. Despite this, the fact that shapes of New Year's cards are fixed as several limited materials is predicted to have its cause from the historical nature called time and customary repetition while such phenomenon will become more firm as time passes by so that the possibility of the shapes gathered for symbolic representation being changed eventually as fixed ideology escaping from polysemy could also be predicted.

본 논문의 연구목적은 새해인사가 연하카드에서 어떤 기호들에 의해 수사되고 형식화되는지와 의미구축과정의 추적과 현대인의 삶속에 무의식적으로 잉태된 심층적 가치와 기원의 원형 발견이었다. 이에 따른 세부과제는, 형상적 대립구조와 주제적 대립구조의 파악, 그리고 이의 과정을 통한 ‘새해맞이’과 ‘복의 기원’의 이해와 가치의 규명이었다.연구대상은 네이버(http://www.naver.com/)에 등록(2009년 1월 10일 현재)된 연하카드를 취급하고 있는 60개 회사의 연하카드를 대상으로 가장 많이 반복적으로 사용된 소재, ‘2009년’, ‘소’, 십장생’을 분석대상으로 삼았다. 연구결과, 3가지 유형의 6가지 분석물의 결과를 보면, 한 축에는 ‘선언’, ‘성공’, ‘능동’, ‘여유’, ‘독립’, ‘미래’가 그 반대 축에는 ‘침묵’, ‘좌절’, ‘수동’, ‘각박’, ‘구속’, ‘현재’라는 주제가 담겨 있었다.. 첫 번째에 해당하는 주제들은 인간이라면 누구나 희구할 만한 이상향, 그러나 도달하거나 획득하기 어려운 긍정적 가치로, 이상적 세계관에 가까운 것들이다. 반면 두 번째의 주제들은 인간이라면 누구나 피하고 싶은 그러나 극복하기 어려운 부정적 가치들로 숙명적인 현실적 세계관이라 할 수 있는 것들의 주제이다. 이와 같은 의소들의 집합에 의한 주제적 대립구조들은 심층구조적인 ‘이상’ : ‘현재’라는 대립구조로 정리할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 인식론적 관점에서 드러난 표면을 즉각적으로 읽는 태도가 경계되어야 함을 역설적으로 웅변하고 있다.하나의 주제는 여러 가지 형상적 경로와 결부될 수 있기에 다양한 형상화의 가능성을 가진다. 그럼에도 불구하고 연하카드의 형상들이 몇 가지에 국한된 소재들로 고정화된 것은 시간이라는 역사성과 관습적 반복성에 그 원인이 있을 것이라 추측하며 이러한 현상은 시간이 흐를수록 견고해져 종국에는 상징에 동원된 형상들이 다의적인 본래의 특성에서 벗어나 고정화된 이데올로기로 전환될 가능성 또한 예측할 수 있었다
