The purpose of this study is to inquire into the relation between German Junggrammatiker and Ueda who completed the modern Japanese language. Particularly his thought of language that language is not a letter but a sound is affected by Junggrammatiker's thought of language that the object of study of language is the language which really exists and is in use. And he asserted that the scholar of Japanese literature can not carry out a study of language on the basis of the scientific principle. Ueda's thought like this is the same as Junggrammatiker's thought that was conflict with humanistic thought of language in order to break the authority of the classical Philology and in his thought was immanent the radical ideology of Linguistics that shook hard the existing thought of language. So we can ascertain that Ueda's thought of language which is affected directly by Junggrammatiker is on the ground of the concept and ideology of the modern Japanese language.
