This paper is concerned with the status, reflection and the direction of Christian educational institutes within the theological universities of Korea. Research of Christian education is important because of its influence on the educational field and practice. In Korea, Christian education related research is mainly carried out by theological professors or those connected to the theological universities. And, the Christian educational research institute within the theological university acts as a bridge between theory and practice. Thus, there is a great potential that the Christian educational research institute can contribute towards the revitalization of Christian education. Starting off from this perspective, I believe that efforts to review and reflect on the status of Christian educational research institute of theological universities in Korea as well as seek new vision and direction through such efforts would be meaningful. The paper is divided into sections that touches on the purpose of establishment/vision, major programs, finances etc of the Christian educational institute of theological universities. The currently these institutions are facing extreme financial difficulties, which is making it difficult for them to retain researchers. This in turn is making it difficult for the institutions to conduct their professional work and activities. To improve upon this situation and provide direction for these research institutions, the author submits the following projects: professional research for education at the church field, blue ocean specialization project, full-time moderator, training of educational professional, running of institution from a managerial perspective.

이 논문은 한국에서의 신학대학교 기독교교육연구소의 현황과 반성, 그리고 방향성에 대한 것이다. 기독교교육 연구는 교육 현장과 실천에 영향을 준다는 면에서 중요하다. 한국에서 기독교교육 연구는 주로 신학대학교 교수들과 관련된 이들을 중심으로 수행되고 있다. 여기에 신학대학교의 기독교교육연구소는 이론과 실천을 연결하는 기교 역할을 하고 있다. 그런 면에서 기독교교육연구소는 기독교교육의 활성화에 기여할 가능성이 높다. 이 같은 관점에서 한국에서의 신학대학교 기독교교육연구소의 현실을 살펴보고 반성을 통해 비전을 새롭게 하면서 나아갈 방향을 탐구하는 일은 의미가 있을 것이다.논자는 신학대학교 기독교교육연구소의 설립목적/비전, 주요 사업, 재정 등의 영역에서 관찰하고 비교하였다. 기독교교육연구소들의 상황은 재정적인 면에서 대단히 열악하며 그로 인해 연구원의 확보가 어려우며, 이것은 연쇄적으로 전문적인 사업이나 활동을 하기 어려운 상황을 만들었다. 이 같은 상황을 개선하고 연구소들이 나아갈 방향을 논자는 교회현장의 교육을 위한 전문적 연구, 블루오션적 특성화 사업, 조정자로서의 전임자, 교육전문가 훈련, 경영적 관점의 운영 등으로 제안하였다.
