건축설계 초기단계에서 BIM 도구의 활용성에 관한 연구 - 주요 BIM 소프트웨어 간 비교분석을 중심으로 - KCI 등재

본 연구에서는 현재 건설업계에서 사용되고 있는 BIM 소프트웨어들을 대상으로 설계 초기단계 주요 작업들에서의 활용성을 비교분석하고, 그 결과로부터 설계 초기단계 작업을 지원할 수 있는 BIM 소프트웨어의 향후 발전 방향을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 통하여 건축설계 실무에서의 BIM 소프트웨어 활용성 뿐만 아니라, 대부분의 과정이 설계 초기단계로 이루어지는 대학교 건축설계 교육에서 BIM 소프트웨어의 적용가능성을 타진해볼 수 있다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 국내 건축업계에서 가장 많이 활용되고 있는 BIM 소프트웨어인 Revit과 ArchiCAD를 선정하고, 이들 소프트웨어들의 인터페이스 및 주요 기능을 전반적으로 비교분석한 후, 설계초기단계 주요작업들인 규모검토, 매스계획, 스페이스 프로그램, 도면 및 모형 제작, 대안 검토, 개략 물량산출 등을 중심으로 각 소프트웨어들의 기능 및 활용성을 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 매스계획과 대안 검토에서는 Revit이 더 향상된 기능을 제공하는 반면 스페이스 프로그램에서는 ArchiCAD가 좀더 발전된 기능을 제공하고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 두 소프트웨어 모두 규모검토에서는 이렇다할 기능을 제공하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study is to do comparative analysis for the utilizability in the early stage works of architectural design among BIM software tools being used currently in the architectural industry, and to investigate the direction of future development of BIM software supporting the early stage of architectural design successfully. This enables to examine the applicability of BIM software to the university education of architectural design. In this study, firstly Autodesk Revit and Graphisoft ArchiCAD were selected as subjects of analysis, which are known to be most widely used in the korean architectural industry, secondly comparative analysis for user interface and primary functionalities was done among the selected BIM softwares, and thirdly in-depth comparative analysis was done with concentrated on the works in the early stage of architectural design practice, such as building scope and code study, mass study, space programming, generating drawings and models, reviewing alternatives, outline quantity takeoff, etc. As a result, it reveals that Revit provides improved functionalities in mass study and reviewing alternatives and ArchiCAD in space programming. It also reveals that the two softwares don't provide relevant functionality in building scope and code study.

The usage of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in building projects has enabled improvement in project planning, implementation and collaboration process amongst various stakeholders within architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. However, variations exist in the current practices of BIM implementation and coordination process in the industry. These variations result in inconsistent degree of BIM use across the construction industry. This inconsistency gives rise to several managerial and technological challenges such as data interoperability issues and purposeful integration and exchange of information within the BIM components. In order to tackle the issue, it is essential to analyse the different BIM approaches employed by the industry practitioners. BIM guidelines serve as a critical link between the BIM model, and its subsequent execution. They therefore provide the best reflection of BIM application and processes. This research paper aims to address the variations existing in BIM practices across the construction industry. It includes an extensive study of 21 existing, publicly available BIM-based guidelines in order to establish an understanding of the present state of practice and deduce issues and concerns related to them. All guidelines analysed in this paper are first categorised based on authorship and the release date for efficient comparison. The points of similarity and difference between them are thereby realized and outlined. In addition, the transition of project implementation process from traditional methods to BIM technology is also explained. The existence of inconsistencies in the BIM guidelines reviewed in this paper reflects the need of a BIM 'Code Compliance Check'. The Code Compliance Check will serve as a regulatory project guideline that will further improve the potential of BIM by incorporating a consistent BIM modelling methodology for the entire construction industry.

The use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is growing trend in worldwide for life cycle approach for designing, operating, managing buildings. With this trend, BIM could implied to facilities management (FM) area for handling building data and sensors, asset and cost management, life cycle estimation and management. The purpose of this study is to investigate the state of BIM used in FM, limitations of BIM application in FM, and investigate characteristics of FM integrated systems. programs related to the BIM. A literature review is conducted to investigate the state of BIM used in FM field and research, and identify key issues hampering the application of BIM to FM. The benefits of collaboration of BIM data and FMS data use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) include 1) standardization in FM data and quality improvement, 2) unified source of FM related data, 3) time and cost saving and 4) performance increase. For better application of the BIM data and its process, the strategic role of FM need to be more focused and early involvement to merge BIM data to FM process is important for long-term organizational success.
