The PVC powder was treated at $200~250^{\circ}C$, in 0~2 M NaOH solutions for 0~5 h to study the kinetics of dehydrochlorination. In the case of water, the dehydrochlorination of PVC powder proceeded by the zero order reaction with X(the degree of dehydrochlorination), and the apparent activation energy was about 46 kcal/mol. The rate of dehydrochlorination increased with con-centration to 0.5 M NaOH, and proceeded by the first order reaction with X. And, the kinetics of dehydrochlorination was almost equal above 0.5 M NaOH. The apparent activation energies of dehydrochlorination in 0.1 M and 0.5 M NaOH was about 46 kcal/mol, respectively.

This study was examed about leaching behavior in order to separate plasticizer selectively before dechlorination from flexible PVC material in alkali solutions at $80~120^{\circ}C$. The dechlorination of that was not almost occurred below $100^{\circ}C$. But the yield of elution of plasticizer was 100% above 5M NaOH. Therefore, by controlling alkali concentration and reaction temperature, it is possible to extract the plasticizer selectively without taking dechlorination.

For most of the drug studied, minimal loss from the aqueous solutions were observed over periods of storage time. Six of the drug products - Thiopental sodium, Hydralazine HCl, Thioridazine HCl, Trifluoperazine 2HCl, Metronidazole, Chlorpromazine HCl - were found to be lost a substantial extent. DEHP was found to be migrating from PVC infusion bags.

...PVC vulcanizates and blending procedures such as roll-mixing temperatures and sequences for polymer blending of NBR and PVC(resin type). The results obtained are as follows: 1. The roll temperature applied for polymer blending is around $150^{\circ}C$. At this temperature region, the degradation of rubber stock, which may be caused by heat, can be minimized and mill processing in practical application in industries can also be facilitated. 2. It is obviously necessary that a small amount of plasticizers should be added to the stock for improving processibility of roll mixing and physical properties. 3. On roll-mixing sequence, it is more effective that PVC compounded with plasticizer is added to NBR milled on hot roll. 4. The vulcanizates of the blends with different degree of polymerization of PVC ale similar to one another in properties. 5. NBR/PVC(70/30) blends shows the better physical characters than eve,-made foreign latex blend except abrasion-resistance. 6. As PVC addition ratio is increased, the physical properties such as resistance to ozone, tear, heat and oil and tensile strength, modulus, hardness have also improved, on the other hand, tension set and rebound character decreased. 7. The curve of ultimate elongation have point of inflection at the ratio of $30\sim40$ part of PVC. 8. While CR is blended, the physical properties such as brittle point, rebound and resistance to oil in high temperature have improved. 9. Polymer blend of NBR and domestic PVC is applied for the industrial utility such as rubber sole and heel, electric wire cover and oil-resistant packing, coating and gasket, printing roll, film for food packing etc.

High-strength plastic water supply pipe evaluation method was evaluated in this study. Up to date, high strength water supply pipes that we install are mostly ductile cast iron pipes. Sometimes, a few PVC pipes are installed. Metal pipes have rust problem on the surface, causing serious damage to metal pipes and reducing the expected life span of water piping system. Also the thermal degradation conditions under various installation circumstances of cables were studied by assuming degradation conditions with each different degradation rate (50%, 67%, 100%) such as variation in degradated temperature, thermal exposure time, normal state, partially degradated state and overall degradated state for thermal degradation diagnosis. The quantity of electric discharge (V-Q) according to applied voltage was measured for measurement of inception voltage and extinction voltage. The quantity of electric discharge and the number of electric discharge (Q-N) were measured with applied voltage kept constantly. In addition, pictures were taken using SEM (scanning electron microscope) to compare the surface of external insulator to degradated state of internal insulator according to thermal degradation temperature and also compare the surface of external insulator to degradated surface state of internal insulator according exposure time of cables to thermal stress.

Removal of PVC from Mixed Plastic Waste by Combination of Air Classification and Centrifugal Process

...PVC 함량(4 wt.% 이하)이 매우 높아 이들의 재활용에 커다란 제약이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 혼합폐플라스틱 종말품으로부터 풍력 및 습식 비중선별장치를 이용하여 폴리올리핀계 (PE, PP, PS) 플라스틱을 경량물로 회수하는 선별시스템을 개발하였다. 본 선별시스템은 풍력선별, 자력선별, 1단계 파쇄, 정량공급 및 습식 비중선별 공정으로 구성되어 있으며, 습식 비중선별 공정은 원심분리를 기본으로 혼합-세척-선별 및 탈수가 단일장치내에 집약된 특징이 있다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 연질 플라스틱의 분쇄 효율을 크게 개선한 파쇄기를 개발하였다. 개발된 습식 비중선별장치의 용량은 시간당 0.5 톤으로, 이를 이용하여 회수된 경량물의 PVC 함량은 0.3wt.% 이하이며, 경량 및 중량 회수물의 수분 함량도 각각 10% 이하를 달성하였다.

가정에서 분리 배출된 폐플라스틱은 일반적으로 수선별 등 분리선별 공정을 거친 후 종말품으로 회수되어, 현재 대부분이 매립이나 소각되고 있다. 혼합폐플라스틱 종말품의 경우 2006년 약 175만톤 발생된 것으로 예측되고 있으나, EPR실시 이후로 발생량은 2000년에 비해 2배 이상 크게 증가한 실정이다. 특히, 혼합폐플라스틱 종말품의 경우 PVC 함량(4 wt.% 이하)이 매우 높아 이들의 재활용에 커다란 제약이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 혼합폐플라스틱 종말품으로부터 풍력 및 습식 비중선별장치를 이용하여 폴리올리핀계 (PE, PP, PS) 플라스틱을 경량물로 회수하는 선별시스템을 개발하였다. 본 선별시스템은 풍력선별, 자력선별, 1단계 파쇄, 정량공급 및 습식 비중선별 공정으로 구성되어 있으며, 습식 비중선별 공정은 원심분리를 기본으로 혼합-세척-선별 및 탈수가 단일장치내에 집약된 특징이 있다. 또한, 본 연구에서는 연질 플라스틱의 분쇄 효율을 크게 개선한 파쇄기를 개발하였다. 개발된 습식 비중선별장치의 용량은 시간당 0.5 톤으로, 이를 이용하여 회수된 경량물의 PVC 함량은 0.3wt.% 이하이며, 경량 및 중량 회수물의 수분 함량도 각각 10% 이하를 달성하였다.
The mixed plastic waste generated from households after hand-picking and/or mechanical sorting processes amounts to 1,750,000 ton in 2006, and most of these waste are finally end up with landfill and/or incineration due to the lacks of separation technologies and economical reasons. The mixed plastic wastes can not be used as raw materials for chemical and/or thermal recycling processes because of their high content of PVC(upto 4.0 wt.%). In the present research, gravity separation system has been developed to remove PVC from the mixed plastic waste and to recover the PO-type plastics. This system mainly consists of air classification, magnetic separation, one-step crushing, feeding system at fixed rate and wet-type gravity separation system. The gravity system based on centrifugal separation has been developed at capacity of 0.5 ton/h and it consists of mixing, precleaning, separation, dewatering, recovery system and wastewater treatment system, etc. The main objective of this process is to achieve high separation efficiency of polyolefins with less than 0.3 wt.% PVC content and less than 10% moisture content in the final products. In addition, a crushing unit of with 8 rotor system is also developed to improve the crushing efficiency of soft-type plastics. The system with a capacity of 1.0 ton/h is developed and operational results are presented.
Decomposition of PVC and Ion exchange resin in supercritical water

This experiment was carried out at 450"C, which is relatively lower than the temperature for supercritical water oxidation (600-650$^{\circ}C$). In this experiment, the decomposition rates of various incombustible organic substances were very high. In addition, it was confirmed that hetero atoms existed in organic compounds and chlorine was neutralized by sodium(salt formation).However, to raise the decomposition rate, relatively large amount of sodium nitrate(3-4 times the equivalent weight) was required. When complete oxidation is intended as in the case with PCB, the amount of oxidizer and decomposition cost is important. But when vaporization reduction is required as in the case with nuclear wastes, the amount of radioactive wastes increases instead. But as can be seen in the result of XRD measurement, unreacted sodium nitrate remained unchanged. If oxidation reaction of organic substance simply depends on collision frequency, unreacted sodium nitrate can be recovered and reused, then oxidation equivalent weight would be sufficient. In the gas generated, toxic gas was not found. As the supercritical water medium has high reactivity, it is difficult to generate relatively low energy level SO$_{X}$, and NO$_{X}$.

In this study a novel triiodide ion-selective electrode based on a charge transfer complex of iodine and Bis(2-hydroxyacetophenone)butane-2,3-dihydrazone (ICT), as a membrane carrier was prepared. The electrode has a linear dynamic range between 1.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-2}$ and 5.0 ${\times}$ $10^{-7}$ M, with a Nernstian slope of 58. 99 ${\pm}$ 0.3 mV $decade^{-1}$ and detection limit of 3.0 ${\times}$ $10 ^{-7}$ M. The potentiometric response of the proposed sensor is independent of the pH of the solution in the pH range of 3.0-10.0. The electrode possesses the advantages of short conditioning time, fast response time, and especially, very good selectivity over a large number of common organic and inorganic anions. The electrode can be used for at least 6 months without any considerable divergences in the potentials. It was used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of triiodide ion with thiosulfate.

This study introduces the development of new supercritical water oxidation(SCW)(multiple step oxidation) to destruct recalcitrant organic substances totally and safely by using sodium nitrate as an oxidant. This method has solved the problems of conventional SCW, such as precipitation of salt due to lowered permittivity, pressure increase following rapid rise of reaction temperature, and corrosion of reactor due to the generation of strong acid. Destruction condition and rate in the supercritical water were examined using Polyvinyl Chloride(PVC) and ion exchange resins as organic substances. The experiment was carried out at $450^{\circ}C$ for 30min, which is relatively lower than the temperature for supercritical water oxidation $(600-650^{\circ}C)$. ...PVC-membrane electrode for $Ag^+$ ion based on a thia-substituted macrocyclic diamide has been prepared. The electrode exhibited a Nernstian response for $Ag^+$ over a wide concentration range $(1.7{\times}10^{-6}-1.0{\times}10^{-1}M)$. It has a response time <15 s and can be used for at least 3 months without divergence. The proposed membrane sensor revealed good selectivities for $Ag^+$ over a variety of metal ions and can be used in a pH range 3.0-7.5. A new PVC-membrane electrode for $Ag^+$ ion based on a thia-substituted macrocyclic diamide has been prepared. The electrode exhibited a Nernstian response for $Ag^+$ over a wide concentration range $(1.7{\times}10^{-6}-1.0{\times}10^{-1}M)$. It has a response time <15 s and can be used for at least 3 months without divergence. The proposed membrane sensor revealed good selectivities for $Ag^+$ over a variety of metal ions and can be used in a pH range 3.0-7.5. It has been used successfully for direct determination of $Ag^+$ in different real samples and, as an indicator electrode, in the titration of silver ion.
폴리염화비닐(PVC)/염화비닐-아크릴로니트릴 공중합체의 용액 블렌드에 관한 연구

...PVC)와 vinyl chloride(VC)/acrylonitrile(AN) 함량비에 따른 poly-(VC-co-AN)와의 블렌드 필름을 제조하여 morphology, 점도, 동적 점탄성 및 기계적 물성을 고찰하였다. 블렌드의 morphology는 전반적으로 matrix-domain 형태의 비상용계로 공중합체에서 VC 함량이 증가할수록 morphology는 다소 균일하였다. 특히 VC 함량이 77.21%인 MO-01 블렌드의 경우 PVC가 많은 영역에서 상용성은 우수하였다. 블렌드 용액의 점도는 전반적으로 비상용성으로 인하여 negative deviation을 보이나, MO-01 블렌드에서 PVC 함량이 90%일 때 급격한 점도의 증가를 보였으며, 저장탄성율 및 T$_{g}$ 거동에서 MO-01 블렌드의 경우 상용성 블렌드의 T$_{g}$ 변화와 경향이 유사하였으나 MO-02 및 MO-03의 경우 비상용성 블렌드의 경향을 나타내었다. PVC와 poly(VC-co-AN)의 블렌드에서 VC의 함량이 가장 높은 MO-01와 90:10인 조건에서의 상용성이 가장 뛰어났으며, 블렌드 필름의 기계적 물성의 향상은 발견할수 없었다.

Poly (vinyl chloride) was blended with blended with vinyl chloride-acrylonitrile copolymers (MO-01 : M$\sub$w/=199049, AN=22.79%, MO-02 : M$\sub$w/=238523, AN=47.03%, MO-03 : M$\sub$w/=289496, AN=52.49%, MO-04 : M$\sub$w/=341837, AN=58.68% by mixing dimethylformamide (DMF) solution of each polymer and their morphology, viscosity, viscoelastic and mechanical properties were studied. Blends of PVC and MO-01 showed a homogeneous morphology. On the contrary, the other copolymer blends showed a large phase separation with spherical domains. Miscibility of blends of PVC and MO-01 was shown to be better than that of blends of other copolymers from morphological and viscoelastic studies. Even though blends of PVC and MO-01 were observed to be the considerable compatibility at a composition of PVC/MO-01=90/10, the mechanical properties of blend films were not improved too much in most blend cases.

...PVC 수지에 첨가되는 고가의 충격보강제(MBS) 대신에 Phosphate, CaO등을 함유하고 있는 산업부산물인 부생석고(남해화학), Pb계의 복합안정제, $CaCO_3$ 등을 함유한 PVC 복합체의 역학적 성질을 혼합 성분비에 따라 측정하였다. 그 결과 석고의 양이 8.46wt%일때 기계적 물성이 향상되었다. 이는 PVC와 phosphate, CaO 등을 포함한 석고와의 상용성에 따른 결과로 생각된다. 열중량 분석(TGA)결과 약 $275^{\circ}C$에서 열분해를 시작하였고, 열분해 후 잔존량은 첨가되는 석고의 양에 비례했으며, 시차주사 열량계(DSC) 측정결과 $T_m,\;T_g$는 석고의 양이 8.46wt%일 때 각각 가장 높은 값과 낮은 값을 보여 열안정성이 증가하였다. 역학적 물성과 열안정성 측정 결과를 비교하면 석고의 양이 8.46wt%일 때 역학적 물성과 열 안정성이 모두 향상되었음을 알 수 있다. X-ray 회절 분석결과에서 석고와 PVC가 블렌드되어 있음을 확인하였다.

In this study, mechanical properties of PVC complexes containing the gypsum (Namhae Chemical Co.) which contains phosphte, CaO, etc., Pb-species stabilizer, and $CaCO_3$ were investigated as a function or the content. As a result, mechanical properties increased when the gypsum was mixed with PVC at the extent of 8.46wt%. From this result, it is suggested that the gypsum containing phosphate and CaO is compatible with PVC. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) showed that pyrolysis started about at $275^{\circ}C$, and residual weight(%) increased with the amount of the gypsum, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that $T_m,\;T_g$ had the maximum and minimum value respectively when the gypsum was mixed with PVC at the extent of 8.46wt%. Comparing all the results, both mechanical and thermal properties of PVC complex were improved. The X-ray diffraction measurement also showed their blonds and structures.

PVC졸은 디옥틸프탈레이트로 PVC를 가소화시켜 제조된 것이다. 본 연구에서는 PVC졸 실란트에 요구되는 접착성 개선제에 관한 연구의 일환으로 polyamide를 첨가하였을 때 PVC졸 실란트의 제반물성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 폴리아미드 변성 PVC졸의 인장강도는 높은 Amino 값을 갖는 폴리아미드 B의 경우가 낮은 Amino 값을 갖는 폴리아미드 A의 경우 보다 더 높게 나타났다. 인장강도는 경화온도나 경화시간이 증가할수록 증가되었다. 또한 인장강도는 폴리아미드의 종류와 경화 시간에 관계없이 충진제인 $CaCO_3$ 함량이 증가될수록 감소되었다. 유전상수는 폴리아미드의 종류에 관계없이 폴리아미드의 함량에 따라 거의 일정하게 나타난 반면, tan ${\delta}$는 폴리아미드의 함량에 따라 약간 증가되었다. 그리고 열적안정성은 Amino 값이 높은 폴리아미드 수지의 경우가 Amino 값이 낮은 폴리아미드 수지의 경우보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

The mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of polyamide-modified poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)-sol was investigated. PVC-sol was plasticized with dioctyl phthalate (DOP). In this work, the effects of the addition of polyamide on the properties of PVC-sol seal-ants were investigated. Two kinds of polyamide resins having different amine value were used. It was found that the properties of the PVC-sol sealants were significantly affected by the contents and types of the added polyamide rosins. The PVC-sol sealants modified with polyamide A (low amino value) showed higher tensile properties than those modified with polyamide B(high amino value) did, and thermal stability of the sealants showed nearly the same trends. The tensile strength of sealants were decreased with increasing the $CaCO_3$ contents. The dielectric constant were not strongly dependent on the polyamide types and contents.
