Dynamic Hand Gesture Segmentation Method Based on Improved Kalman Filter and Weighted Skin-Color Model

In order to improve the problems of segmentation accuracy and real-time existing in dynamic hand gesture under complex backgrounds, this paper presents a kind of dynamic hand gesture segmentation method based on improved Kalman filter and weighted skin-color model. Firstly, improved Kalman filter is utilized to process hand gesture image of hand gesture video sequences and get rough hand gesture results. Secondly, weighted skin-color model is applied to process rough results of hand gesture segmentation and segment hand gesture. Finally, morphological method is utilized to deal with gesture segmentation result, getting rid of the holes in the hand gesture’s binary image to realize the segmentation of dynamic hand gesture. Experiments show that the proposed method can segment hand gesture from dynamic hand gesture video sequences with complex backgrounds effectively. And the accuracy of hand gesture segmentation is high.

Face and Eye Recognition on Gray Image using DWT with RBFSVM Method

Facial part detection or extraction shows the most important role in face and eye recognition. In this article proposed a new algorithm for Face and Eye Recognition (FER) using radial basis function support vector machine (RBFSVM) classifier. The discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is used for feature extraction and selection. For the experimental results, used JAFFE and ORL database. In this algorithm, extract face component like left eye, right eye, mouth and nose. In the preprocessing stage, apply median filtering for removing noise from an image. This stage improves the feature extraction process. Finding an image from the image components is a typical task in pattern recognition. The detection rate has reached up to100% for eye recognition and for face recognition is 90-96%. The proposed system estimates the value of precision and recall. This algorithm is compared with SVM and our proposed proved better than previous algorithms.

A numerical simulation on the 3D compressible viscous unsteady flow field induced by a high-speed subway train, while it’s passing by the platform screen door of subway station, is presented in the paper. The research on transient pressure in tunnel due to changes of positions of platform screen door is proceeded in order to design platform screen doors for underground stations of Dong-guan to Huizhou inter-city rail traffic. Result shows that the platform is subjected to aerodynamic compression and tension cycle loads all the time. And compression load is larger than tension load. The maximum and minimum pressure values in absolute terms got from measuring points of the whole station decrease gradually along the direction train going ,no matter whether the platform screen door is fixed or not. The absolute values of maximum and minimum pressure of piston wind generated at platform screen door are decreasing while the spacing between platform screen door and platform becomes wider. The pressure value of air at exit is larger than that of air at entrance. As for a high-speed subway station, it is a practicable way to set air shafts at entrance and exit of station to mitigate pressure of air in station and tunnel. The pressure value of air could have a 10 to 15 percent reduction if there is an air shaft. Besides, the platform screen door can be installed in half tall of PSD.

Automatic target-scoring system has great practical value in sports shooting competitions. From the needs of sports shooting competition point of view, this paper used image processing technology and studied a set of sport shooting competition ring number automatic identification system. In this system, the author firstly used the image registration algorithm based on SIFT and achieved accurate registration of two target images before and after shooting. And then OTSU thresholding algorithm was used to eliminate most continuous noise. Then the bullet hole image was intensified by image morphological operation. Finally, through differential operation of the edge features in two plots, the positions of bullet holes were obtained. Bullet holes in the final position by the geometric relationship with concentric circles and polar coordinates automatically identify the number of rings. Verified that the algorithm is faster time, adaptability, judgment precision can reach more than 80%, basically meet the actual needs of sports shooting competition.

Design and Performance Analysis of a Rectangular Microstrip Line Feed Ultra-Wide Band Antenna

The research article presents the design and performance of a planar microstrip-line feed monopole antenna for Ultra-Wide band (UWB) frequency. The proposed antenna is consisting of a rectangular patch antenna loaded with a rectangular slot on its center position. The antenna is etched over a FR4 epoxy substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 26 mm by 1.52 mm. The simulated and experimental results are compared and analysis showed a good proximity. The measured and simulated results confirm that the design covers the entire region of UWB range (4.1 GHz to 8.8 GHz). The measurement indicates that the designed antenna is a good candidate in terms of return loss, VSWR, radiation efficiency for UWB application.

In this paper, we study the newsvendor game with supply uncertainty, where multiple retailers form a coalition to cooperate to place orders to minimize the cost and share risk facing uncertain supplies and demands. After the orders are delivered and the demands are realized, the actual arrival quantities are allocated among the retailers to minimize the total cost. We compute the cost functions by using two-stage stochastic programming model and show that the cooperative game has a nonempty core. Also we propose a method to calculate an allocation in the core.

Dynamic Visual Performance of LED with Different Color Temperature

In order to research the dynamic visual performance of LED in mesopic vision conditions, based on the visual performance method, the software systems were developed to set different test parameters. And the hardware systems were used to collect the reaction time of testers. Color temperature of LED, ambient luminance, luminance contrast and target speed were selected as the experimental variables, and each variable had three variances. 60 sets of experiments were carried out by 20 testers. The experiment results show that reaction time of high color temperature LED is shorter than the other two. And reaction time decreases with the increasing of the ambient luminance and luminance contrast. And target speed has significant influence on visual performance in the speed range of 60km/h to 80km/h.
