This paper considered 1) the relation between the number of student and the floor area of the school building facility, 2) the situation and the distribution of the school building facilities area, 3) the distribution situation of the school building area by the district office of education. Data were collected from 352 middle school in seoul. The results are as follows: 1) The number of student is have not an influence on the floor area of the school building facility in the middle school. 2) The maintenance situation of the school building facilities is different by the subject of the district office of education. Especially the public space is maintenance faithfully in the jungbu district office of education. 3) As the relation between the district office of education and the school building facilities is considered by principal component analysis, maintenance of support space is late in the gangseo․gangdong district office of education, maintenance of management space is late in the seongbuk district office of education, maintenance of need space is late in the seongdong․gangdong district office of education.

본 논문은 서울시 소재 352개 중학교 교사시설을 대상으로 1)학생수와 교사시설면적과의 관계, 2)지역교육청별 교사시설면적의 현황 및 분포, 3)교사시설들 간의 상호관련성 파악 및 이 상호관련성에 의한 지역교육청별 교사시설의 면적구성을 검토하였다. 그 결과 1)학생1인당 교사시설면적은 학생수가 많은 중학교일수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내고 있으며, 특히 학생수 900명 미만인 중학교에서는 면적격차가 심하다. 2)전체적으로는 교수학습영역이 39.14%, 공용공간이 31.89%, 관리영역이 12.15%, 지원영역이 10.17%, 필요시설이 6.65%를 차지하고 있다. 그러나 지역교육청별로는 차이가 있다. 3)주성분분석을 결과, 상대적으로 강서․강동교육청은 지원시설, 성북교육청은 관리시설, 성동․강동교육청은 필요시설의 정비가 늦어지고 있다.
