This study aimed to analyze the life experiences of intermarriage family adolescents and prepare for policy methods to support them. In particular, this study focused on intermarriage family middle school students whose study received little attention. It analyzed their identity, learning, school life, friendship, etc. As a result of interviewing, overall they adapted themselves well to school life. In addition, there were few people who are being ridiculed for their appearance nowadays. Only a few people said that they were sometimes ridiculed at primary school for their black appearance. Most interviewees did not want to say their multicultural background and they disliked to be treated unlike their peers. Therefore, it is necessary to treat them as a member of Korean society. The support methods for them was as follows: 1) Establishment of alternative school for multicultural students 2) Support for self-help group of intermarried women 3) Enlargement of exchange program among multicultural students 4) Increase of the opportunity to experience Korean history and cultural heritage.

본 연구는 다문화가정 중에서도 국제결혼가정 청소년들의 생활실태를 파악하여 그들을 정책적으로 지원할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 했다. 특히 이 연구는 그동안 잘 다뤄지지 않았던 다문화가정 중학생들에게 초점을 맞춰 그들의 정체성, 학업문제, 학교생활, 교우관계 등을 분석했다. 인터뷰 결과 전반적으로 국제결혼가정 청소년들은 한국의 학교생활에 잘 적응하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 현재 외모로 인한 놀림이나 따돌림을 당하고 있는 경우는 거의 없었다. 단지 초등학교 시절 피부가 까맣다는 이유로 놀림을 당한 적이 있는 학생은 일부 있었다. 인터뷰에 응한 대부분의 청소년들은 그들이 다문화가정 출신이라는 것을 드러내는 걸 반기지 않았으며 일반 한국학생들과 다르게 대우받는 것을 무척 싫어했다. 따라서 이들을 자연스럽게 우리 사회의 구성원으로 받아들이는 노력이 절실하다. 이들을 위한 지원으로는 다문화대안학교의 설립확대, 결혼이민자인 부모들의 자조모임 활성화, 일반 청소년들과의 접촉 및 교류강화, 한국의 역사나 문화체험기회의 마련 등이 필요하다.
