Development and Validation of the AI Ethics and Security Competency Model (AISE) for University Students in the Era of Generative AI
This study aimed to develop and validate an AI Ethics and Security Competency Model (AISE) for university students in response to the ethical and security challenges posed by the widespread adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI). To achieve this objective, international AI ethics guidelines, AI security frameworks, and AI Literacy literature were analyzed, including the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the OECD AI Principles, the Korean AI Ethics Guidelines, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, the NIST Generative AI Profile, and the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications. In addition, expert Delphi surveys, content validity assessment, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) were conducted to identify the core competencies. Subsequently, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were performed using data collected from 127 university students to validate the proposed model. The results revealed that the AISE model consists of four upper-level competency domains—Awareness, Integrity, Security, and Evaluation—and twelve sub-competencies. In particular, the Security domain was established as an independent core competency domain, while the Evaluation domain was incorporated to address the critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs, thereby reflecting the ethical and security competencies required in the era of generative AI. The proposed AISE model contributes to the literature by presenting an AI competency model that integrates ethical and security perspectives for university students. Furthermore, it provides a practical framework for AI curriculum design, learner competency assessment, educational evaluation, and the development of generative AI security education programs in higher education.

이를 위해 UNESCO AI 윤리 권고안, OECD AI 원칙, 대한민국 AI 윤리기준, NIST AI Risk Management Framework, NIST Generative AI Profile, OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications 및 AI 리터러시 관련 연구를 분석하였다.
