The proliferation of cloud computing has dramatically enhanced the scalability and flexibility of information systems. However, constraints in post-incident evidence analysis arise due to restricted log access and the additional costs associated with acquiring, querying, and storing detailed logs. In such an environment, relying solely on reactive post-incident responses makes it challenging to fully reconstruct malicious activities. Therefore, a Forensic Readiness framework is essential to establish preemptive log acquisition standards, ensuring that potential evidence required for investigations is collected and preserved in advance. Nevertheless, existing models are primarily tailored to on-premises environments, failing to adequately address the limitations of the cloud. Accordingly, to efficiently utilize limited resources, this study proposes a ‘Risk-Based Cloud Forensic Readiness Model’ that proactively collects and preserves core logs necessary for incident investigations.
