Three commercially available epoxy putties (Free Form™ Air, PEP 220, and Power Putty) were compared with three conventional restoration materials (AralditeⓇ SV427+HV427, CDKⓇ 520, Quik WoodⓇ) to assess their suitability as alternative materials for the restoration of ceramic and earthenware cultural heritage objects. Although the epoxy putties exhibited differences in their material properties, all three demonstrated potential for use as alternative restoration materials. PEP 220 exhibited mechanical strength comparable to that of Quik WoodⓇ, whereas Free Form™ Air and Power Putty exhibited properties comparable to those of CDKⓇ 520 and SV427+HV427, respectively. These findings suggest that epoxy putties can be selectively applied based on the material, condition, loading requirements, and workability of individual objects. The results further highlight the importance of developing restoration materials according to the specific requirements and characteristics of cultural heritage materials.
