Korea’s International School of Geoscience Resources (IS-Geo) has developed and conducted convergent educational programs to fulfill a vision of Asia as the hub of global resources development professionals. This study aims to propose a mid- and long-term development plan for IS-Geo’s convergent education by using the SWOT/AHP analysis technique on a priority basis. Recommendations founded on this analysis include the following: First, the infrastructure for the educational training program’s professional instructor ship must be created, and national support for the program procured in order to render it internationally competitive. Second, the profit structure for financial independence must be created, improved and stabilized by the activation of a support process for professional instructors. It is necessary to enhance proficiency through an instructor-centered education service policy. Third, a module of the educational program must be developed with national support. As well, a system of customized educational process which meets the needs of different target audiences. Last, a module-centered, intensified program and a geoscience cluster must be developed and managed. In conclusion, this study helps IS-Geo’s convergent education program to identify strategies for achieving sustainable development by providing a multi-perspective framework.

한국의 국제지질자원인재개발센터(IS-Geo)는 아시아를 글로벌 자원개발 전문인력의 허브로 만들겠다는 비전을 달성하기 위해 융합교육 프로그램을 개발하고 이를 운영해 오고 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 SWOT/AHP 분석 기법을 우선순위 기반으로 활용하여 IS-Geo 융합 교육의 중장기 발전 계획을 제안하는 것이다. 이 분석에 기반한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육 훈련 프로그램의 전문 강사진을 위한 인프라를 구축하고, 프로그램의 국제 경쟁력을 확보하기 위해 국가적 지원을 확보해야 한다. 둘째, 전문 강사 지원 프로세스의 활성화를 통해 재정 자립을 위한 수익 구조를 창출하고 이를 개선 및 안정화해야 하며, 강사 중심의 교육 서비스 정책을 통해 숙련도를 높이는 것이 필요하다. 셋째, 국가적 지원을 바탕으로 교육 프로그램 모듈을 개발하고, 특히 서로 다른 타겟층의 니즈를 충족하는 맞춤형 교육 프로세스 체계를 구축해야 할 것으로 판단된다. 마지막으로, 모듈 중심의 심화 프로그램과 지구과학분야 클러스터를 개발 및 운영해야 할 것으로 본다. 따라서 이 연구의 결과는 다각적 프레임워크를 제공함으로써 IS-Geo의 융합교육 프로그램이 지속 가능한 발전전략을 수립할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.
