This research investigates how the Global Citizenship Approach (GCA) influences the multicultural perspectives and English proficiency of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners. The study included 30 CEFR B1-level students from Swinburne Vietnam and employed a mixed-methods research design. The EFL learners were exposed to the GCA curriculum, with assessments conducted before and after a two-month intervention. Additionally, participants in the experimental group (n=15) were invited for in-depth interviews to provide insights into their experiences and perceptions of engaging with the GCA. The results showed a statistically significant improvement in language proficiency scores after GCA implementation, indicating a positive correlation between exposure to the GCA approach and English proficiency scores. Furthermore, thematic analysis of the interviews highlighted a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and heightened awareness of global issues. These findings offer valuable insights into the effectiveness of incorporating a Global Citizenship Approach into EFL curricula in Vietnamese higher education and inform educational practices that foster intercultural competence among language learners.
