This study examined the effects of university students’ self-directed English learning ability and generative AI adoption intention on multicultural attitudes, and verified the mediating effect of learning flow in this process. The participants consisted of 162 students (92 males and 70 females) enrolled in general education courses at N University in Chungcheongnam-do in 2025. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and Hayes’ (2022) PROCESS Macro Model 4. The results were as follows. First, self-directed English learning ability had a significant positive direct effect on multicultural attitudes, whereas the indirect meditating effect through learning engagement was not statistically significant. Second, generative AI adoption intention did not have a significant direct effect on multicultural attitudes; however, it had a positive indirect effect on multicultural attitudes through learning flow, confirming its mediating role on learning flow. These findings suggest that self-directed English learning ability is an important predictor of multicultural attitudes. It also indicates that strengthening students’ self-directed learning competencies alongside the expansion of generative AI education can contribute to enhancing the understanding and acceptance of diverse cultures and fostering positive multicultural attitudes.

본 연구는 대학생의 자기주도 영어학습능력과 생성형 AI 수용의도가 다문화 태도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 과정에서 학습몰입의 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 충남 N 대학의 2025년 교양수업을 수강하는 총 162명(남:92명, 여:70명)으로 분석방법으로는 기술통계량, 상관분석, Hayes(2022)의 PROCESS Macro Model 4를 실시하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 자기주도 영어학습능력은 다문화 태도에 정적 직접효과를 미쳤으며 학습몰입을 경유하는 간접효과(매개효과)는 통계적으로 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 생성형 AI 수용의도는 다문화 태도에 직접적으로는 유의하지 않았으나, 학습몰입을 매개로 한 간접효과(매개)는 유의한 것으로 검증되었다. 이는 자기주도 영어학습능력이 다문화 태도를 설명하는 중요한 예측변인임을 시사한다. 따라서 생성형 AI 교육의 확대와 함께 자기주도적 학습역량을 강화하는 것은 다양한 문화에 대한 이해와 수용성을 증진하고 긍정적 다문화 태도 함양에 기여할 것이라고 기대된다.
