In this study, the effect of underwater hydrofoil was analyzed on a electric propulsion high speed motor boat by model test at a high speed water tank. The hull floating and resistance performance according to the longitudinal position, area and angle of attack of the foil with the same cross sectional shape were analyzed and the required power was estimated. Through this study, it was confirmed that the longitudinal position of the foil significantly affects hull floating and resistance performance. The reason is that the moment increases as the foil position moves farther away from the hull center. If the hull floats at a relatively low speed, a sudden change in trim may occur. After the hull floating, a rapid reduction in required power occurs because resistance acts only on the foil and strut.
