Using a qualitative case study, this research sought to understand what the career development experiences of adolescents in a video production club signify. For data collection, individual in-depth interviews and a focus group interview were conducted with four male and female adolescents who had taken part in a video production club for two years or longer, and photo-elicitation interviews (PEI) were added to obtain supplementary visualized data. The verbal and visual materials thus collected were analyzed together following the qualitative case study approach: within-case analysis first clarified each participant‘s career development and everyday context centered on the club, after which cross-case analysis examined the structural distinctiveness of adolescent experience and the contextual similarities grounded in shared themes, yielding four overarching themes from nine subthemes. According to the findings, adolescents build expertise and cultivate interpersonal relationships and cooperation within the club, and in doing so reduce their anxiety about the future and pursue their career development in a self-directed manner. As a closing point, the study puts forward several considerations for encouraging video production club activities in adolescence and supporting these young people’s healthy career development.
