This study aims to understand the life experiences and support needs of socially isolated young adults and to suggest policy directions for local-level support. In-depth interviews were conducted with 12 young adults aged 19 to 39 living in P City who had experienced social isolation. The interview transcripts were analyzed using qualitative content analysis through repeated reading, extraction of meaning units, categorization, refinement, and naming. The findings were organized into three major categories: the present, past, and future of socially isolated young adults. Their present lives included daily life structure, social relationships and interactions, difficulties experienced in isolation, and responses from people around them. Their past experiences revealed personal and environmental factors that triggered isolation, as well as critical events such as suicidal thoughts, withdrawal, conflict with family or acquaintances, violence, and bereavement. Regarding the future, participants showed different patterns in the change process, including awareness, attempts, frustration, and acceptance of isolation. The study suggests that support policies should move beyond one-time programs and employment support, and should establish an integrated system covering outreach, assessment, psychological support, relationship recovery, daily life recovery, social participation, and follow-up care.
