In this study, a finite element analysis based on continuous impacts was performed to examine the straightening of a shaft bent after long-term rotational operation. Two upper locations were set to be impacted to artificially induce the bending, and one lower location for straightening it, with 20 continuous circumferential impacts applied at each location under the same conditions. The eccentricity, approximately 0.02 mm at the mid-span after the bending-inducing analysis, was restored to approximately 0.01 mm or less at the same location after the shaft was rotated by 180° and impacted again.
