Overweight and obesity are major public health concerns associated with metabolic and cardiovascular risks. Blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise has been suggested as a practical strategy to induce physiological adaptations at relatively low exercise intensity. This study investigated the effects of 2 weeks of flossing band-based BFR aerobic exercise on lactate response and cardiorespiratory fitness in overweight college students. Fifteen overweight college students with a body mass index of ≥23 kg/m² were randomly divided into three groups: aerobic exercise without BFR (BFR 0), aerobic exercise with BFR at 50% of systolic blood pressure (BFR 50), and aerobic exercise with BFR at 70% of systolic blood pressure (BFR 70). The exercise program was performed 3 times per week for 2 weeks. Each session consisted of a 5-min warm-up, 14-min treadmill walking exercise, and 5-min cool-down. Fasting blood glucose, blood lactate concentration, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, waist circumference, and maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂max) were measured before and after the intervention. The results showed that fasting blood glucose, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and waist circumference did not significantly change after the intervention. Blood lactate concentration increased in all groups, with significant main effects of group and time, but no significant group × time interaction. VO₂max increased in all groups, with significant effects of time and group × time interaction. These results suggest that 2 weeks of flossing band-based BFR aerobic exercise may induce positive physiological responses in lactate accumulation and cardiorespiratory fitness in overweight college students.
